Hope you enjoy this awesome space saving rod storage idea...who would think to store rods on the ceiling?

me, been doing it in the basement with exposed joists. there happens to be cross bracing, which leaves places to store them that way. however, over time horizontal storage lends to sagging, or warping of the rods. vertical storage is my preference.
Thank you for the quick tutorial. No unnecessary jabber, just good facts. Perfect. Good job.

This is a great idea. 👍 I used cut PVC on the back and my hooks weren't big enough. Your's will keep the rods from falling out.

I thought of going the PVC route, but these rods are larger trolling rods and I was worried about the same thing happening, so I went with the larger hooks.
Neat and simple. Thanks!

I used this technique when I installed the hooks into the rafters of the fishing area of my workshop/shed. *** Tip: You can save a few bucks using utility hangers for the tip end of the rods. The bike hooks are a little overkill for the skinniness of the tips.

It really does get them up and out of the way, which has been great so far
I need to do something like this. Would be much better than what we have currently which is 5 nails sticking out of the wall, lol. Although I wish I had that many rods to worry about storing!
@1Cast1Fish

It has worked great so far, I have loved it. These are all my trolling rods, and they are mounted right above the boat in the garage, so easy access as well
You could save even more room if you turned every other rod around. The reels don’t have to be all on the same end. But it’s a great idea and it’s exactly what I’m going to use in my he-shed. I already have rafters in place so all I need is hooks.

@@1Cast1Fish yes gladly my friend
I have low ceilings in my basement so I need to keep them as high as possible. I also don't have a finished ceiling so the floor joist are exposed. I made a simple rod storage from PVC. For each rod I cut two 2" sections and made one of those C shaped. I attached each to a floor joist. The rod handle goes into the O shaped piece and the rod goes into the C shaped. Simple and cheap.

Excellent video... nice system to keep the rods up outta the way... I swear the fishing rods in my house magically multiply.. I dont know whats goin on... they are everywhere.. in the garage.. in the basement.. in the back of my husbands truck... it the hall closet.. everywhere...OMG...LOL...

Sounds like we have the same problems then :)
So simple yet so effective. I’ve scoured Amazon and can’t find anything that will work for me (need to mount in between joists that are 14 inches apart). I’ve a ton of those screw-in hooks

Best after the fact bit of info, is I found that with the hooks I used, I can get 2 rods per hook is I want to for even more storage.

I fish for a wide variety of fish, so I may be casting some days, and trolling others. These are my trolling rods, that I have hung up out of the way. I normally troll 6-8 rods at a time.
These look great man. You bought EIGHT striper rods?? Did i hear this right?

@1Cast1Fish

@@ifishcatfish I use them for trolling for Striped Bass and will use them for Catfish as well. We have no rod limits here.
How far apart did you put the 2x4's on the ceiling?
@1Cast1Fish
2 жыл бұрын
I put them on the nearest joists at the rod butt end and about 3/4 up the rod. I wanted to be sure I could secure them into the joist due to weight
Great idea but the downside for me is that my rods go from 12' to 5.6'.
