I've decided I really enjoy this channel. I wish we lived close to one another, because I'd rock with yah in a heartbeat!

tldr - OPA2134PA, RC4558P, LM1458N, JRC4559D. if its a klone i mean i looked at stew mac so i am assuming this is the ghost drive. first off the single chip = TC7660S charge pump- this chip converts the 9 volt input power to an 18 volt output . you do not wish to substitute this chip. the other two ic's are dual op amps or tl072 . these are fairly common run of the mill chips but they do have a jfet input . on paper a jfet is a active that behaves similar to the way a vacuum tube would behave - on paper . some pedal guys love jfets some do not . if you are looking for a lot of break up then perhaps the jfet is not for you , but at more respectable gain levels i personally love the way a jjfet breaks up . this stuff is all personal taste . like i often find myself being counterpointed corrected or spoken down to by a pedal guy who is looking for "everything vintage" like if its germanium thats all that matters . my experience has shown me that i am not a ge guy , as i have found si circuits that do the exact same things but much more efficiently . point is consider whose advice you seek, use your ears. most of the "advice" i have seen is people spouting theory , and then you have the emporers new tones or the person who will only recommend you what they play thru, not even consider your thing. the opa2134 chip is the one you will see the most improvement but is not cheap , it is a performer and what you want to get . but ... there is a lot of vendors selling fake versions of this chip , if you see a good price on this chip its a fake . get them from a reputable supplier not from ebay . same with the ne5532 ,. this is another chip that is the most common upgrade for a tl072 . its much more affordable and it also pulls twice as much current . i like these but i have also replaced alot of ne5532 that came stock in chinese products , boards that shipped with fakes . you can quickly test for a legit ne5532 with your meter and perform a diode test across pins two and three . the fakes do not have this diodes . ater a while you can spot a fake ne5532 from arms length as the texas instruments logo - texas looks more like long island. 1458 is a dual 741 . the 741 is the first op amp created . it is not clean . it has a low slew rate . now some EE types will fight till the sun goes down if one suggests anything relating to slew rate . my experience has shown me the 741 or 1458 is different , it has a smoother feel . one of my favorite mods is the low slew rate op amp with led clippers replacing the 1N914 and 1N4148s typically used . i like the 741 , it is different . some folks will claim the 4559 has a tighter low end vs the "flabby" effect they get from the 741 or 1458 op amps . so at the end of the day , i can not apologize for typing too much for you. the pron is not going anywhere . this info took me a long time to learn . there is no emoji to replace my text . SUMMERY - on a budget ne5532 but beware of fakes . if you can afford to spend that amount of cash ( to fix something that's not broken ) opa2134 . burr brown . i have a pair of them in my custom headphone amp . i got mine right before the prices went up . they are top notch .
