Overcoming Our Biggest Challenge | Custom DIY Cabinets

Building Cabinets is the first big challenge to building out the inside of this school bus. This is the first video in a series that will cover building out the inside of my school bus conversion. Custom bus cabinets for my kitchen is the first step. These cabinets are made out of 1/2 inch birch plywood. They will be later edge banded and frameless doors will be added.

Michael, I am so glad I found you. I have gone back and watched all of your videos thus far and am enjoying watching your craftmanship. What an amazing job you do. Question, is this what you do for a living or is this for just pure enjoyment on your part? Not that I could ever dream of doing what you do, but thanks for sharing the detailed steps of your builds. I know you are helping many young people learn and experience your world. If I was 40 years younger I would definitely be following your lead. Great job!!! Please keep sharing.

You and Luc are UNBELIEVABLE craftsmen, perfectionists!! I am building my bus, at this time, drawing much from your experience and creativity. I am pleased that my floor plan is very similar to yours. You are MUCH better at seeing and maximizing every inch. I’ll be on the road soon as my house closes in 10 days. I hope to shake your hand, one day. You touch and inspire MANY more than you know. Keep up the good work.

you have this sign in the shop that says shop, you forgot to put the word chop above it ;) on a completely unrelated subject, check out what cruisingthecut did with his fireplace, for the backing, it is nice to use that and before you install the fireplace you have free access to the area behind the fireplace. just an idea to look into.

OMG so many questions... Love your videos. I got a 6 window G3500 with a Collins body and I think I got lucky because mine doesn't have the wheel wells. But about the questions: For whom doesn't have experience building cabinets (and with lots of free 2X4 lumber), would you recommend building cabinets with frames? Also, for the back and all other walls that won't be seen, do you think I could use (lots of good size free pieces...) OSB? And for last, what's your opinion (for someone like me) about buying used kitchen cabinets and cutting them to adjust to the bus build? Thanks and congrats on your bus.
