Overcoming Infidelity In Marriage - Emotional Story Of Reconciliation

Meet the woman who inspired the start of Marriage Helper; Alice Beam.
In this video, Kimberly Beam Holmes (CEO Of Marriage Helper) sits down with her mother to discuss what going through a divorce was like. We answer questions that YOU asked her directly and hear her side of the story.
After Dr. Joe & Alice divorced and remarried, they made it their mission to provide tools and resources for other couples that could help prevent the same harm that they encountered when dealing with the effects of an affair. Thus began, Marriage Helper.
At Marriage Helper, it's our goal to save marriages and strengthen families.
Dr. Joe & Alice Beam recently celebrated their 52nd Anniversary and are the foundation of how Marriage Helper began.

    Amen! So not follow, stalk, or peak at the AP on social media. You do you. It doesn’t matter how beautiful/handsome, young, fit, wealthy, seemingly happy the AP is, don’t compare yourself to them. What you see on social media is a well-crafted illusion of a person who is actually broken inside - because people who are truly confident in their skin would high-tail it away from a married person. Again I say - you do you.

    Sounds like Joe grew into a better person, spouse and father. The whole experience, while not ask for by all was a growing experience for all, even though it was painful and damaging for all. It was like a trial by fire. Satan attacks God's children, but he loses more than he gains. God wins, we His children win. Stand strong!

    You are such an amazing testimony. My husband asked for a separation on the 27th of September this year, claiming that he wants this for a period of 12 months, to work on himself, and he gave me a whole list of things I needed to change. I moved out on the 2nd of November, a day after my birthday. Last night, he asked me for a divorce, he wants to keep in contact and visit, he loves me and does not want to see 17yrs just be forgotten, etc. He doesn't know that I know of the other woman.

Someone in my family is about to go through this same journey for the same reasons and I told the wife that even after divorce remarriage with your husband is a definite possibility. We also discussed the areas that need to be worked on and the growth that needs to occur on both sides that can be done while apart for the most successful chance of the relationship in the future. Thank you for sharing your story. When Alice talked about deciding to trust Joe again until he gives her a reason not to, a light bulb went on in my head. Trusting him again has been the hardest struggle for me. I’m not going to police him or interrogate him but I don’t want to get hurt again either. I also wonder if that love i had for my husband before he confessed to an affair will ever return? I love him because he is my kids father and because he was my friend and we’ve been together for years but the affair extinguished the deep, passionate feelings I had for him. We are trying to work it out but I worry I’ve lost that loving feeling and wonder if it will ever come back?

    Hi Jan, we are sorry to hear that you feel this way. Did you attend one of our in-person or online workshops recently? I would be happy to connect you with a Client Representative if you would like to talk with us. We make a strong effort to avoid telling anyone what to do. Our workshops and online programs are designed to educate and equip you with the tools to save your marriage, but only if you choose to do so. While it is our goal to help people save their marriage, it is always your choice. What we teach is also empirically-based research combined with decades of experience. Every marriage situation is unique in it's own way. We simply teach about the underlying issues that often contribute to a marriage failing or succeeding, and what you can do about them. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of any help to you. 1 866 903 0990 Blessings, Marriage Helper

He didn't go back to Alice because Sally Sue left him - in fact, he continued down a very dark road, being involved with other women, living a life that was completely counter to his values and getting into things he would have never imagined himself doing before, and he lived that way for quite a while before he started to come out of the fog and came back to Alice. He took a long, dark path before he found his way back to the light again.

    Just sounds to me like she’s using that as a coping mechanism to justify staying with him. Under this thought process, she’s actually trying to control the outcome as if her changing further will ensure he doesn’t behave the way he did. That opens the doors for a rude awakening because she has no control over what he chooses to do. People have free will and choose what they want, right or wrong. I feel for this woman but she’s also bringing this on herself for not using common some sense.

  • @watitduful

    @watitduful

    I’m willing to bet there’s some sense of emotional and financial dependency on her part. I’ve seen it a million times. It has more to do with those things rather than “being they bigger person” and moving in faith. Also, I’m cases like this the women will stay because they don’t want the embarrassing of being left given that much of women’s worth is measured by whether she can keep a man. I think that this messaging is negative because it doesn’t get to the real issues and just glosses over it and it’s stamped with Jesus’ Name on it to officiate it. That’s fake and misleading.

  • @lucylucy2171

    @lucylucy2171

    I don't think she blames her self. She says she's not at fault for his choice to step out, she just knows she herself wasn't perfect, just as he wasn't so she decided to focus on making herself a better person, forgive him, love him again and give it another chance. She's practicing what Jesus said. Not everyone is able to do it but she knew he was broken and wanted to give him a chance to redeem himself and he did. There's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't mean she has to hold a grudge or making excuses. Every situation is different. Some may forgive and let go, some may never forgive and some may forgive and try again. Nothing wrong with that. We can't keep punishing peolle for being human. If your heart is open for reconciliation, why not?
