Thanks for this, I have been battling with CFS for over a year and used to be really overly productive and busy, its shitty. But watching this, its like going back to the basics, drink water, stay away from negative stuff, ie: news, and get out "out" of bed mode, I used to call it death by duvet days, the days Id lie flat all day. I am going to try these again, and thank you, simple and sweet

The idea about stopping negative thoughts in their tracks is so true! My bedroom is what I’m working on this week, it’s become a bit of a dumping ground during this particular energy crash so I’m going to declutter.

I agree with this. I do same thing I put on sum sportswear n go to the gym 3/4 times a WK. I only sit in the sauna n have a cool shower n very rarely swim a tiny bit (body isn't tolerating exercise right now) but the fact I'm dressed like a wellness girly lol and am actively doing things that are helping my condition makes me feel empowered and like I'm moving forward even if improvement of condition is slow at the moment.

Yes, I agree with all these points, but don't do them all at once as that would seem too hard, do them slowly and when you are ready move on to the next one that you think will help. I can relate and all these points do make a big difference to how you feel, thanks for sharing these points Toby.

I'd agree with how attitude is so important. But it's subtle. I find that when I do meditation it helps me find out what's going on in my head. A lot of it is fear. I'm doing so much at the moment, but today I'm in a crash. Consciously I know I just need to rest, but after coming up for 9 years, nevertheless the feeling comes back that I'll never get better. When it comes to things that piss you off, like people you live with being inconsiderate, noise etc, the best way is just to learn to let it go. I can only control so much. What I absolutely can control, with practice , is what goes on in my mind.

i used to dye my hair bright pink. I feel peoples energy and negative feelings are more common and normally stronger but when my hair is pink everyone i meet cheers up and feels happier seeing the bright colour even the people who think they don't like those kind of hair styles. so this is good for me because their negative energy is draining. I have been too ill to do it for a while and too ill to deal with hair dressers too but my niece is training a.t.m so i am hoping we can find a less draining way to get it done. Also anime's are great to watch they are normally about heroes and are really positive. One Piece is really uplifting.

Thank you so much for sharing, Toby 😃👋 I resonated and vouch for all of your tips, but especially, I want to mention the one with clothes. The day I wear clothing I feel more comfortable in, than those which make me feel somewhat disjointed, the difference is HUGE! It's the strangest thing, and I can't explain it, though it is palpable. The colour, the fabric, the perception of self when you step into the attire - all matter. Once again, thank you for sharing and spreading wisdom and kindness. Wish you all the very best 😃👋❤️

Takeaways which I try and implement anyway are 1) seeing grey days as opportunities, we call it "grey day practise" in our house! To look at the positives, as you said. 2) Definitely get dressed in day clothes with some colour 3). The app deletion is really powerful & I benefited from hearing this again. You don't realise how foggy headed scrolling makes you until you cut it out/down. I think that's one of the most important things for me anyway. ALL of the points are things to work on, so thank you again Toby.

Hi Toby. I love and am so grateful for what you're doing. I am a nurse who has had Covid so many times - I guess you would say an occupational hazard. I first got it during the first wave whilst working on the Covid Wards. I was very sick. I have been left with Long Covid which goes on and on as I am getting the virus constantly or it would seem as though I am. It's so true and I agree with all the things you have mentioned. I do all of them. I started learning about them when I trained as a nurse and particularly about the colour and attitude thing. Really is so enabling to have the right attitude and colour is essential to life that mood. In the hospital, we have a drive to ensure that patients are dressed daily and sat out. These two concepts really do facilitate recovery and healing. I know when I am sick, I always get dressed and I have to have colour. I can't wear Black or grey without a huge splash of bright colours like Pink. I drink loads and watch love films. Some may call them chick flicks well I am a chick lol! Seriously everything you have said really has helped. Yes the tiredness is still there but I am not totally washed out and unable to get out of bed. I am able to go to work. So thank you for affirming and confirming all that I believe has helped me. Really appreciate what you're doing. That's the thing that I really found difficult during my recovery. There isn't much out there for Long Covid sufferers and there is precious little for healthcare workers. We're just expected to get on with it. A big thank you. x

These tips are so helpful, thanks Toby. Most of them I have been doing for a while - some days are easier, some days are harder, but the two I hadn't really thought so consciously about are the bedroom environment and the impact of clothes. How frequently someone says something and one thinks 'oh my god, of course! How did I not see that?' I've got to say the most powerful statement from this video for me is when Toby says 'You are digesting that in your mind, in your body and in your soul, is it enhancing your life?'. That crashed into my brain. CFS Health is the only place I have found such helpful advice and an emphasis on trying to move forward through ME/CFS, rather than concentration on the idea of condition management only, which as important as it is, to me feels like staying in the same place. Thanks again, so good to have a place out there to check in with on this journey.

Excellent video!! So true, especially about not comparing your current self to your former self, which I am guilty of. Interestingly, I have been giving my bedroom a huge makeover this week. I feel like I am reinventing myself as the styles I'm choosing are much more calm, modern and slick, compared to my love of super colourful, hippy, cottagey styles I've always chosen up till now. My partner is messy and I flipped the bed around to the other wall so that my side of the bed is closest to the door (and his mess is hidden behind his side of the bed!) What a difference, it feels calm when you walk in!! Plus he DOES seem to be tidier since I changed that! I agree, definitely don't watch the news!! Hydration is soooo important - I do sudoku puzzles and there was one I was stuck on for so long. I then had a day when I actually remembered to hydrate myself really well and I couldn't believe how much easier I found the puzzles (I solved the tricky one!) This video was a good reminder to get back onto that! I would also say, set up an anonymous Facebook account under an alias, don't add friends, just use it for pages you enjoy following, marketplace and events etc. It saves so much time and stress! My 'real' Facebook account is deactivated 99% of the time and I occasionally log on to it, realise what I am NOT missing, then deactivate it again!

At my worst point, I couldn’t watch any high drama or suspenseful or scary tv shows / films but watching feel good comedies really helped. I used to be a big news and politics junkie and have 24 hour news in the background all the time. I deleted the news apps and never play the news channels now and will never go back. Biggest thing was comparison particularly to my past life. I stop my self spiraling into a negative pity party if I think about my past life now. I have accepted where I am and I haven’t got energy to waste thinking about the past.

I'm watching the world go by so yeah I need to be more disciplined. When I could be doing my art. Yeah negative emotions ... Sad the way my kids are finding how I stuffed them up...
