  • @TopHomeowner

    @TopHomeowner

    There are tabs on the metal bracket that match up with slots on the back of the microwave. You just need to set the back of the microwave slightly higher than the tabs (about a half-inch) then lower it down. It sounds more complicated than it is! The bracket is typically attached to the microwave for shipping, so it's easy to see how it lines up when you remove it from the back of the microwave. Hope this helps!

    Thank you, We are actually in the process of putting together a review video! The dishwasher review comes out this Friday and the Microwave will be in 2 weeks...That being said we really like it. It is a slick design and I don't see a big difference in this vs the traditional. Maybe if you lived in a tight kitchen it could cause problems but that would be a big maybe. It is really easy to clean with fewer crevasses, which is a big deal to me with 3 kids :)

  • @TopHomeowner

    Based on what you described I'd say that's very possible. Without the spacers, the microwave could pull up into the bottom cavity of the cabinet.

  • @daddylogan

    @daddylogan

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you had a wall like the guy who made the video, then yes. Why? Because his lower part of the mounting bracket sat on the backsplash which pushes it out from the drywall. So he put spacers up in the upper left hand corner and upper right hand corner to match the thickness of the tile so the mounting bracket would be flush all around. It also probably means he had to adjust the upper template hole drilling forward by the same thickness as the spacers. He can chime in on that if he wants. Otherwise it will look like your microwave is leaning back in at the top and pushed out at the bottom.

    Here is my experience so far with this MW. We purchased it about 6 month ago as were installing the wall duct for rear venting in a new kitchen wall. We live in a cold climate so opted to vent horizontally to prevent heat loss and the dreaded vent condensation pooling in the microwave and destroying it in 6 months routine that you read about all over the net. To anyone wanting a well-insulated rear duct with a snug airtight connection to the MW, you will have to put some serious thought into it as appliance manufacturers would rather spend development $ on fairly useless but glitzy features like blue tooth connectivity rather than designing a system that allows for precise ducting. This is not unique to GE or this unit in my experience. Anyway, I removed the mounting bracket from the unit 6 months ago to locate my ducting. While the instructions do not say to replace the two screws holding it there for shipping, the look like permanent screws and match the other permanent screws holding the side and top housing in place, so I replaced them. It would be nice if the instructions clearly said to discard these screws because it took some troubleshooting to realize that the unit cannot be installed on the bracket with the screws in place. I probably would have caught this if I had been installing the same day I removed the bracket from the unit, so this problem is probably pretty rare. But the most aggravating thing was that the paper template's location for the toggle bolt holes was a half inch off of their actual location on the bracket. It turns out that a 1/2" is right in the sweet spot to make drilling a second set of 5/8 holes in your sheetrock extra-aggravating as the holes overlap.
