Over 78% Completion! The RTS Link Project Malaysia - Singapore (June'24 Part 2)

Overview development progress of RTS Link stations: Johor Bahru (Malaysia) versus progress of Woodlands North (Singapore)
Site progress as 15 June 2024
Info:
RTS Link construction project in Johor Bahru is start now
The RTS Link connects Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands in Singapore, serving about 10,000 passengers per hour each way to help ease traffic congestion on the Causeway.
The RTS project is estimated to be RM3.7 billion after factoring in the relocation of the depot from Mandai in Singapore to Johor Bahru.
The RTS will not only ease congestion on the Causeway, the connectivity will also bring economic benefit to both cities.
The RTS Link will also continue to feature co-location of customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) facilities, so that passengers undergo CIQ clearance only once, at their point of departure.
The RTS Link stations will be well integrated with the local transport networks in each country.
When completed, the RTS Link will ease Causeway congestion, improve connectivity, foster people-to-people ties and generate shared economic and social benefits.

it really progresses very fast including the marine viaduct on the JB side where it will be 5 fully completed spans as well as sunway launching girder 1 towards the maritime viaduct! the marine viaduct on the Singapore side is about to be completed soon, with 3 more complete spans left.

The JB side will be horrendous because JB literally has no public transport to absorb and distribute the people coming in. Everyone is going to rely on Grab or someone to fetch them from the station with a car. A single MRT train, even a 3 car train can ferry out 300-400 people. You will need 300 cars to ferry out 300 people. What we will get is a fast transport and clearance at JB and then a insane traffic jam the moment you leave Bukit Chagar. Be prepare to wait 2 hours for your grab and none of your family or friends will ever ever want to take or fetch you from the station. The grab waiting time at JB sentral during rush hours are already insane. I have waited over an hour for a grab and only caught a taxi because I decide to just walk to Landmark to get one. No public transport = useless. Good luck to us all.

Project RTS Johor - Woodland is an INAPPROPRIATE PLAN (RTS - RANCANGAN TIDAK SESUAI) and its construction PEOPLE DON'T LIKE (RTS - RAKYAT TIDAK SUKA). The construction of the project has damaged the Tebrau Strait canal. By dredging the sea to make the pillars for the RTS route as happened to the construction of the Johor Causeway which has clearly blocked the way for the sea water to flow freely. The people have long wanted the Tebrau Strait to be free from all dams and restrictions to make the Tebrau Strait a canal to allow ships, boats, ferries and others to operate. If Malaysia wants to move forward in the long term, first of all the Johor Causeway needs to be demolished and replaced with a bridge high above sea level like the Goldengate Bridge in America or make an underwater tunnel with the RTS rail line.

A bridge like the Golden Gate Bridge might be too ambitious - maybe one like the Tasman Bridge in Hobart instead
