    Very cool knives overall, for me a gent knife is usually under 3" and is slim enough to wear in a pair if dress pants or be in a slip but not bulging out the pocket. A lighter carry also. Just my way of looking at things but lots of opinions on this subject nowadays and tons of awesome knives to choose from. Thanks for the look see Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

The blade is super thin and slicy cause of the hollow. I like modern traditionals. The Appalachian drifter 2 is on my list. Probs gonna get the purple g10 version.

    The first knife was a J.E. Made Swayback. If it comes to classic looking slipjoints made of premium materials, J.E. Made is - in my opinion - one of the best manufacturers in the world. Jack Wolf knives seem to be on a similar or even the same level but with a more modern design language. Unfortunately, I have never had the chance to handle a Jack Wolf knife.

    Jerad did you get the premium Grazioso yet? I'm really curious about that. Just think that the carbon fiber with the bolster lock looks fantastic. I thought it was gonna release with S35VN steel but I see that they changed it to 20CV. Both the budget version and Premium ones looks really good. And I don't think the recurve on them would be hard to sharpen, compared to larger recurves.

    Jared, what's the advantage of the hollow grind over the flat grind?

  • @NeevesKnives

    @NeevesKnives

    2 жыл бұрын

    Less steel or thickness behind the edge, so if the geometry is done well it can cut great, also it doesn't get thicker after Sharpening and stays thin after a long time of use, flat grinds can also be done very well with cutting and sharpening wise but will always get thicker as you sharpen, but some are done extremely well so that it doesn't effect the cutting performance because it's barely any thicker after many sharpening

  • @realbroggo

    @realbroggo

    Just following on from Jared's comment. There are no strict rules about what a gent's knife really is but a couple of 'rules' I apply are: 1) is this a knife that I would be prepared to pull out and use at a wedding or dinner party in front of other possibly non-knife people? 2) is it light & slim enough to carry in a suit pocket? and 3) is it stylish and made from nice materials. What a gent's knife is not - large, tactical, aggressive etc. Ultimately though - carry what makes you happy!!

    @@NeevesKnives non threatening - ok, but are these slip joints practically really less threatening than say a Kershaw launch series autos (as we all know autos in general are devices of mass destruction and terror regardless of their size XD ) :)

  • @wojciechk50

    @wojciechk50

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@realbroggo I beg to differ a little bit. There's a category of knives that imo are very gentleman like but if neccessary could be "tactical and agressive"....like any other knife actually :D eg Civivi Plethiros - a medium size flipper, very light weight and pretty stylish, looks very nice and unassuming at the first glance but the blade it hides is pretty substantial for any edc utility activities and self defence as well. The same story with TWOSUN TS43 (i finally got it hahha :D ) - a very elegant, mediumish size flipper with a very menacing American tanto blade. Imo, these knives are gentleman too. Being a stylish gentleman shouldn't exclude the potential for ruggedness and bite so to speak, that's how i see it at least :)

  • @realbroggo

    @realbroggo

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@wojciechk50 Comment most welcome! I think this shows how personal opinion matters. In fact what is a 'gentleman' these days? But you're right there are many exceptions to all rules and selecting a tanto or larger blade knife is not an automatic exclusion. Choose a blade that works for you and go with it! Have a great day.
