That is because deregulation and privatization of Energy companies was a horrible idea. At least with actual public utilities like FPL in Florida they are required by state law to invest a % of profits back into the grid to upgrade it and protect it from storms. When it is all Privatized like in Texas they are no longer bound by any state law like that because they are no longer a classified as a public Utility. GOOD JOB TEXAS!! Way to mess that one up and Centerpoint made 6 Billion last year!!

Do these people not have generaters??? If you live coastal, you need to be prepared during hurricane season. And why waste gasoline in lines when you can leave? Smh.

The city should definitely put those who want relief in hotels and give generators to those who want to remain with their home… Especially to nursing homes!!

The situation is getting way worse than the national media is aware of. My elderly parents cannot tolerate the heat and I can’t move them. My mom uses a CPAP machine at night and my Dad has an oxygen concentrator for his chronic pulm9nary disease. My pets are also suffering in the heat! The US gov needs to do something!

Agree! There are areas all across south Texas without electricity with temperatures getting into the upper 90s and beyond. With the humidity, The heat index was up to 106 degrees where I am at! We need electricity so we can have air conditioning!!!!
