Ovation of the Seas - Rough Sailing!

Our second full day at sea on board the Ovation of the Seas. Talk about a rough day of sailing! The ship and crew handled the rough water very well. At no point did we feel scared or unsafe. We had a great day! got to enjoy the ship and catch up on some much needed sleep! Make sure to take note of the power of the Ocean when you're watching! Enjoy the video, like, comment and most importantly subscribe for more videos!

U guys look like a fun couple. I leave next week for a Hawaii to Vancouver cruise on Ovation. Looks like a good ship. I've been on two Oasis class so it'll be nice to have a switch up. I hope the five days at sea are relatively calm. It's the Pacific, quite a rough ocean.

Thanks Davey7358! We try to have fun, especially when we are cruising! By the time I got back to you, you’re probably onboard the Ovation. Have a great trip! Let us know how it goes cruising the Pacific 🚢

The higher you up the more you’re feel the rocking. Best place to stay is the lower deck and mid ship.

@@richardfamilyproductions This video was great! Loved the pool table and everything moving around! Really gave a perspective how much the ship was moving. Did you see or notice anyone getting sick or did it seem there were a lot less people out in the common areas? I've seen a few videos that showed "sick bags" placed all over the ship "just in case" - did they have those out at all? The waves looked intense considering how large the ship is. Did the motion make it easier to sleep at all? Or did you feel like you had to take a pause once in a while from the motion and just close your eyes and "reset"?

Thanks Chris! Playing pool was funny. We didn't witness anyone get sick but we did see evidence that people had gotten sick. There were a couple wet spots on the carpet, wet floor signs and such. I remember seeing the sick bags on the handrails by the stairs. We found the motion made it easier to sleep. It quite literally rocked you to sleep, especially when laying down. At this point in the trip, we were ready to catch up on some ZZZ's so it worked out well!

Yeah, we are going to do this same cruise on the Ovation next June 9-16 (our 32nd anniversary!) and THIS ONE SEA DAY SCARES THE CRAP out of us…kinda glad it’s the second to the last day (although hoping we don’t get so barfy that it screws up the last day’s stop in Victoria, which we are really looking forward to because we finished our honeymoon there way back in 1991!)

That is great! Congratulations on 30 plus years of marriage! You will have a great time. The seas were rough for us but nothing a little napping couldn’t fix. Very cool you two get to revisit where you honeymooned back in 1991!

@@richardfamilyproductions first time! I like your videos because it seems like you guys did not spend a fortune on excursions. Some of those excursions are over $200 pp! I’m trying to find the most economical ways to visit each port 😉

Back in July 2022 I was on Ovation onboard a trip to alaska. Two of our five shore excursions got canceled due to covid-19 related staffing shortages. Although I had a great time in alaska I was exposed to someone who tested positive for covid-19 while I was waiting for the bus to get back to the ship in Sitka on July 12. I received the exposure notification on July 19 and I tested negative for the disease that day. Victoria was an amazing city.

Hey Serenity! We are glad you were able to stay safe! That’s a shame two of your excursion were cancelled. However it’s hard not to have a great time on an Alaska Cruise, right?! We are working on our Victoria video now. We had a quick and rainy day in Victoria but grateful for the opportunity to visit.

We had way more motion on our recent Alaskan cruise than I had expected - my two friends got pretty seasick, but luckily it actually doesn’t ever affect me - long may that continue!

Yes it was a bit of a surprise! Thankfully Annie and I didn’t experience any major seasickness either. Really just minor nausea from the constant motion. It didn’t affect our day beyond the unplanned nap we experienced 😂

Dude ! Hell, we were playing shuffleboard when there were 11 to 12' seas.. It ain't that rough. Or you wouldn't be allowed on deck .. We went through a hurricane , coming back from Bermuda . They had the ship battened down No one outside at all ! 30 ft seas 60 mph winds out of the N. E.. Watched the nose of the bow cut through the waves splashing over it from the Satelite lounge .. You got off easy..

Hey! I missed your comment somehow. Sorry for a slow reply. This whole trip was filmed in the DJI Pocket 2. It’s a handy little camera and shoots pretty good quality footage. Love the built in gimbal.

I dont like the rough seas, that part is awful :( We played bingo last time on Allure and it was not much fun. I think they played 3 or 4 games and it was over in no time. The prizes have changed too...remember when they would give free cruises as the big prize..no more. I did almost win slot tournament but got beat at the very end. I have never been on Ovation so looking forward to exploring the ship and I am more used to the Oasis Class with Aqua Shows and the open boardwalk on the back of the ship so I know this will be different...still cant wait!

Yes the bingo prizes anymore seem to be cash prizes. Annie and I always joke how we will walk straight to Next Cruise if we win! The Ovation is different from the Oasis class (that was the only class I was familiar with prior to this cruise.) The Quantum class ships are laid out very nicely! Lots of space indoors to enjoy and stay warm with out ever feeling cooped up! One of my favorite parts of the Ovation was 270. Such a fun and versatile space with amazing views.
