06:28- Arthur Brodsky leads a Q&A from the audience with Dr. Zamarin
Globally, ovarian cancer is diagnosed in an estimated 300,000 women each year-and another 570,000 are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 382,000 with uterine (endometrial) cancer. While significant advances have been made in surgical and chemo-based treatments for ovarian cancer, the survival rates have only modestly improved. Immunotherapy for ovarian cancer shows tremendous potential for addressing this devastating disease. www.cancerresearch.org/Immuno...
Questions from the audience for Dr. Zamarin:
- Are there clinical trials for ovarian cancer? What is the outlook for immunotherapy for ovarian cancer?
- I have previously undergone chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Is immunotherapy an option for my cancer?
- What is the best way for a patient with recurrent ovarian cancer (BRCA 1 mutation) to learn about clinical trial options?
- What are some of the promising cancer vaccines for ovarian cancer?
- At what point should immunotherapy be sought? I'm currently doing chemo for a recurrence and this is my 3rd line of treatment. Is this a backup plan or something to coincide with chemo?
- Are there any neo-antigen vaccines for ovarian cancer available now?
- I hear that ovarian cancer is considered a cold tumor. Is there anything that a patient can do to increase the tumor immune cells such as taking prebiotics, probiotics or supplements?
- I was diagnosed with stage 4 and have had one recurrence. I am NED now. Would I be a candidate for a vaccine?
- Do genetic mutations impact these immunotherapies?
- Is it necessary to have chemotherapy before immunotherapy?
- Does Lynch syndrome increase my chances of getting ovarian cancer or endometrial cancer? Is immunotherapy the recommended treatment for cancers caused by Lynch syndrome?
- How does immunotherapy compare to chemotherapy in the longevity of "no evidence of disease" status?
