Outwitting Death

Haunted as we humans are by death-fear, we understandably seek ways to evade death's clutches or at least hold it back as long as possible. Both sacred and secular literature from antiquity to the present day testify to this effort. Using Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film "The Seventh Seal" as a starting point, Fr. Kerry argues that the best way to outwit death is to love profligately and ferociously. Love not only overcomes death-fear; it also conquers death itself.
