Hi Doug & Niki. Just became a subscriber. Leaving in 1 week and ship stops at Cartagena. Your tips were great! Question. Where/how did you buy your Hop Off/Hop On tickets?

Sorry I missed this earlier. have a great trip! Niki purchased them directly through the hop on/hop off company. I think she found their link on Google.

We will be cruising there with Princess in two weeks! I am confused about the Hop On Hop Off bus, though, and the transition to the shuttle. Can you explain that more? It appeared that you boarded the HoHo and then immediately moved to the shuttle which then took you to stop number 4 and the clock tower? Loved your info and would like to follow your route! Thanks!

You've got it exactly right! That's what we did. And...as silly as it sounds we ended up spending every minute in the walled city there and whimped out and took a cab back because we didn't want to miss the ship! It's hard to get Niki to stop shopping ;) Enjoy your trip and make sure you come back and leave a comment on how it was for you or any tricks you found that helped.

@@DOUGandNIKI Did yoy pay for the bus excursion in advance, and through who? Everything we see says that you have to meet up with the bus in town (the Playa something), and that they don't stop at the port (at the Texaco station)! What was the cost for the taxi back? Thanks for your response!

thanks so much for the comment! It's been almost a year now so I don't remember what the hop on hop off fee was. It's probably changed anyway. I'm sure you can google that. Sorry about that.

Bad news on the hat... she bought that on our adventure in Egypt a couple years back. Sorry. We love our adventure hats...fun, stylish, and truly useful.

Just watched this video and it's very helpful. About how much distance is it from the ship to where the actual Hop On Hop Off pickup spot is? Did you purchase tickets online prior to leaving? Thanks In Advance!!

Thanks so much. It is about a 1/2 mile walk start to finish. there is a shuttle bus by the cruise ship which can shorten the walking down the pier part. We ordered our tickets online before we got off the ship. Enjoy your trip! What ship are you going on?

Great video, Did you buy the voucher before hand on the City Sightseeing website? When I went on there they said they don't pick up anyone at the cruise terminal and you have to make your way to Stop $ which is the walled city. Just wondering where you got your info from to know where to get picked up and driven back to the cruise port. Thanks

Niki did the research on where the hop on hope off bus is if you don't use the ships excursion for hop on hop off. It's right outside the terminal.

@@DOUGandNIKI Hello, today i wrote to city sightseeing website chat and they answer was this: "Cruise passengers are requested to go by their own means to the nearest City Sightseeing bus stop, which is stop 1: Muelle de la Bodeguita. Attention: Cruise passengers will not be picked up at the Cruise Terminal". what do you think they don`t know their own stops???

@@damiancurto I was just on the tour Mar 4. Got caught in the scam depicted here and a taxi tried to take us elsewhere. We jumped out and when we made it to the actual Hop on Hop off employees they said that they didn’t know about the scammers at the port and that the Muella is no longer a stop. Something is very fishy about this organization not just the scammers. This KZread video is from January. Hop on Hop off was unaware of these scammers for at least 2 months. That doesn’t sound believable.

we have a pretty good size flock of parrots that live in the trees in our neighborhood...

Great video how to avoid the street vendors/scammers, however there is more to see in Cartagena, you didn’t go San felipe Castle the biggest fortress in all the americas, didn’t go to getsemani neighborhood, cool place, didn’t go to the bay promenade, cool pictures there, didn’t go to the old bull ring called la Sarrezuela now a shopping place, also during the night is when the old city gets alive, without the sun and heat, you can go get a nice mojito, see local dance and music, street performances, so half a day is not enough.

This should of been titled, "When Karen visits Cartagena". She is definitely rude and is the type that should stay in America or European countries. She is entitled. So when you hear of people getting robbed, drugged in other countries, this lady is the prime target. YOUR ATTITUDE IS NOTICED BY LOCALS!!! HUMBLE YOURSELF IN 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES!!!

Really Paul? What did we do that was awful? I'm pretty sure the only thing we did was visit the country and bring needed capital to their economy and didn't do a single negative thing to a anyone there. Which part of that is awful?

I’m from Cartagena and she behaved perfectly, she did exactly what you have to do with street vendors here, don’t be nice just say no firmly and keep going, believe me if you don’t do that they won’t let you go
