Thanks for the video i was strugling with the strumming paterns but you made it esier.i have a question though.do we have to strum all the strings ? I kinda noticed that the high E is too much present when i play the chord progression and doesn t sound like the original version when i play along. thank you for the lesson. this was one of my favorite songs, as a youth, and ive been wanting a lesson on it. Additionally, I really like the host, as a teacher. The way he interacts with the audience is great. Could i please request more by aaron lewis, staind; "the way i am", "raining again" Or his version of "what hurts the most". The other song i have been wanting a lesson for is "Meds" by placebo.

Hi and sure, you can play the song in standard tuning - no prob at all. A lot of Staind songs are tuned down to Eb as it makes the vocals a little lower and gives a little heavier tone to the guitar in a lower tuning. Ok. I'm newer to playing guitar and don't understand this tuning. When I tune my guitar down a half step it's always been, D#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#. What am I missing?

Hi and yes, it can be confusing but the the tuning you wrote out is the same - its Eb tuning - same notes you are just saying the notes but another name but same notes Eb is the same as D# - G# is the same as Ab - etc for all 6 strings. So u r doing it right but these notes can be referred to by both names - technically it depends on how you are using the notes or what scale or situation you are using them from. Generally Eb tuning you refer to all strings in flatted notation as you are tuning each one down a half step. Its confusing but no woriies as u r doing it right. Hi Mike and thanks so much for checking out this lesson - most appreciated. Yeah, for sure, you can play this tune in standard tuning and dont have to tune to Eb tuning. I try and do the lesson as accurate as possible to the original recording and in this case Aaron Lewis tunes to Eb for most of his acoustic version of the Staind songs - but playing it in standard A440 is fine too!
