I teach 20-25 hours per week on OS, almost all VIPKid-style ESL classes, 1v1. I use the Teacher’s Together English curriculum and I teach Asia hours. Bookings are good, especially at this time of year. I also received that email.
Hi Kristen! I am also a former VipKid teacher and I remember watching you back then! I am brick and mortar teacher but am wanting to know more about online teaching. I have missed teaching online but I really am unsure of where to start so I would love to see your videos on the topic!
As a SPED teacher, I want to try this but -don’t laugh lol - I’m overly worried about the language barrier. 😂😂 My brain constantly says, “but what if I can’t understand them and they can’t understand me.” 😂😂 Then also, let’s say we want to teach Asian kiddos basic math or language skills…. Do we use the typical US age bracket for the skill? Or how do their levels translate into theirs? (Don’t know if that makes sense lol)
I tried doing one on one for a little while. I had to charge low prices to even get students in the door. However I did make decent money with the amount of students I had. I had to stop for a while due to my schedule and it was hard to restart and get students again.
I just started opening some 1:1 classes on OS. I am still trying to figure out this new system they have for the classes where the parents can change the times themselves.
It’s tempting but I really don’t like working those hours 😮
