Outrun the Sunlight are proud to unleash The Return of Inertia 2.0, a complete reimagining and re-recording of their debut album from 2011.
These were the songs that put Outrun on the radar of so many metal fans in 2011, and I felt like the original recordings didn't do these songs justice. Personally, it was hard for me to go back and listen to them, so we created the 2.0 project, asking "What would this album be if a full band actually played it?" We feel like these songs have new life breathed into them, and we can't wait to hear what you think of these new renditions.

Recently ran across this group and am I glad I did. The break at the 1:40 mark sent chills down my spine. Absolutely sublime. I grew up with the likes of Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Jimmy Hendrix and reassuring to know that the next wave of stellar progressive music is with us. Great stuff!

I don't really like what you did with that part after 2:40. The ethereal sound of the delayed riff was replaced with a simpler groovy line, missing the buildup to the near orgasmic release of the strumming part of the original, which never fails to give me goosebumps; missing in this one entirely. I know it's your music and you can do with it what you want but I can't help but be a bit disappointed because I was looking forward to it the most and, atleast it feels like it to me, you almost completely changed my favourite part of my favourite song off that album. I really like what you did with all the other songs, and the part before 2:40 though. And maybe it'll grow on me, who knows.

Hey man, I recognize your username, I know you've been with us for a long time. Thanks for your feedback. I knew there would be some stuff on this album that would be questionable to people who knew the original. When it comes down to art-making, the best choice is always the one YOU love the most, not that the choice you think others would love. So I understand our choice might not be everyone's favorite choice. And part of me redoing these songs was because I felt like now, 12 years later or so, I could make better choices that reflected where I was musically at the time of recreating it. I am happy to hear you like the rest of the renditions too. And yes, maybe it will grow on you, but it's also ok if it doesn't.
