@@SarahandMarek We went for a 2 week holiday, loved it so much bought a run down house. Repaired it over a year. We both lost our jobs in the UK and decided to move to Bulgaria were life is a better quality, less stress better air.

I have since then been restoring old BG houses. In the Troyan region. If you come again, pop in to see us. The story is much bigger.

Hi Radoslav! I would love to visit Bulgaria too! I have been to the UK and USA but Eastern Europe offers many delightful destinations!
Oh gosh, with 50 leva in Sofia 😂.. what a challenge but I am glad you made it, guys! Our food is indeed very delicious! This was the most I was missing while living in Switzerland!

The beautiful building across from the mineral springs is...The Central Mineral Bath...which is not used as a bath anymore. Sofia exists because of the warm mineral springs, more than 40 in total all around Sofia and the suburbs

Totally agree Sarah & Marek! The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is definitely one of the must-see sights in Sofia. It is a beautiful cathedral full of history. A real must to watch!

@@SarahandMarek Grew up in Joburg, so around 16-17 years there, and then spent a few years in Cape Town for bachelors and then work :) Afterwards my folks decided to move back to Bulgaria and I decided to follow along. Really enjoying it here, but also really miss SA :) Can’t have the cake and eat it too as they say haha. Quick question. Having spent quite some time traveling Europe, what would you two say you missed the most from SA while traveling in Europe specifically?

And how bizarre this is. Came across your video without knowing you are from SA 😊 In August it will be 28 years since I moved to South Africa from Bulgaria. Two halfs of my life I lived in two beautiful countries, which dearly love!🇧🇬🇿🇦
It is hot mineral water straight from the tap... people do not drink it when it is warm, you should wait until it cools down, then it tastes normal.

@@SarahandMarek, Sofia has 50+ mineral springs within city limits. Some are hot (like this one) and were used to fuel the public mineral baths, some are colder. The yellow-bricked building with the fountain infront of it that you remakred on is the Sofia Central Mineral Bath which uses the same mineral spring that attracted the Thracians here 3000 years ago when the city was founded.
The food looks so good 🤤🤤 food tour videos are always my favourite 🤤

when he said he has never tasted anything so flavorful i remembered when I was living in the US how their food had literally 0 flavour nothing had taste and everything was so greasy, i felt so bad for these people
Now thats a proper filmed food tour! and included prices for each meal.

@@SarahandMarek Actually i got a few job offers down in Bulgaria so im considering moving there even :O I would definately try that big mushroom and pork stew. Did you notice inflation ramping up prices any in the Balkan region?

1:18 it is hot mineral water, and is top quality for drinking. Pretty much all mineral springs in Bulgaria are excellent for drinking.

The Sofia Central market (Халите) are now sold to Kaufland and will be closed from 14th of July. A historical place in the centre of Sofia is sold to a German market company which is not well received by the people. What a shame!

What do you mean you had expectations and it was nothing crazy? What did you expect to grow wings or to develop some sort of super powers. It is just free mineral water coming from a hot spring and it is at everyone's disposal. Let it cools out and drink it, it is definitely better than most waters especially compared to tap water.
That watter is a spring mineral watter
I love Tarator, which is almost like a substitute for soup as a starter…

I am originally from Afghanistan, but I lived in Bulgaria for several years back in the early 1990’s; I truly enjoyed the experience from culture to food to meeting new people and making friends … I hope to be able to visit Varna and other towns along the Black Sea in the near future and make more memories. Take care.
Those three big buildings are actually the parliament, presidency, council of ministers and a few other ministries (such as the ministry of education). In short: core of the bulgarian government. :d

Cijene hrane u onom restoranu su malo više, ali treba ipak sve probati da bi mogli nekome dati dobru preporuku. Čini mi se da ste baš uživali, a i ja gledajući vas😉

I live in Bulgaria the places aren't the best it's not so comfortable in places. But hotels and resturants are perfect for tourists

The food was overpriced for sure 4 bucks for tarator milk goes for 1.20 there not enough herbs or whatever to justify the rest And 3.50 for the bread as if they go for .99 at lidl And the last one 19.50 nah that's a 10-13 levs dish
