    I'm glad another company caught on to the coaxial design. They're superior to the traditional design imho (I use Equator speakers, but may upgrade to these tbh). Btw it does have a tweeter, the tweeter is located right in the centre of the woofer. A coaxial speaker is two speakers built in to a single assembly. If it didn't have a tweeter it wouldn't be able to deliver high frequencies. I wouldn't buy anything other than coaxial speakers for mixing in all honesty, they just dominate within the mid/high ranges.

  • @TouchToneDSG

    @TouchToneDSG

    3 жыл бұрын

    That is freaking amazing to know that and you’re absolutely right the mid and high ranges sounds so great on these And the low end is very nice and tight it’s definitely a couple steps up from a Yamaha’s more than a couple actually but thanks for the knowledge piece I appreciate you

    Hi, First thank you for your detailed review. I looked up many reviews and on gearspace two people measured the speakers and found that there was big bumps in frequency response between 100-150 Hz. And in two subjective reviews the reviewers indicated something similar. Did you feel that way ? Barefoot/Output gives a diagram of a flat frequency response though, but I do not know how correct that is.

  • @TouchToneDSG

    @TouchToneDSG

    2 жыл бұрын

    I say that really depends on how hard you are pushing him I have noticed when I am pushing them pretty hard and turn them up there is a bump in that 100 to 150 Hz range but it’s not by a lot I wouldn’t say big bumps also it depends on what kind of power conditioner you have it Hooked up to to keep stable power

    It doesn't make sense why they excluded the pot adjustments on the back. Most speaker manufacturers include them because they understand that every room is different and to get the best performance from the speakers you need to be able to tune them to your room. They look nice, but professionally not very idea for critical listening. The Sonarworks Reference 4 is nice but it adds heavy latency.

    Hey TouchTone how are you ? maybe you can help me with this issue. Just got the Frontierand I can't work on my 909 , 808 kicks , the farting noise from the fontal vent is audible, is preventing me from listening to the kick clearly when soloed . tried on different setups,interfaces, and at only 80dB SPL is clearly audible (this does not happens on the yamahas h8 on the same test setup. . what do you suggest I try. is it maybe a defect ? (this is the second pair they send me after I have returned the first ones that were doing the same thing) :(

    @@TouchToneDSG thanks for the reply .. nothing on the power cond. except the computer... After further analysis .. I think that me being used to the yamahas h8 is the main problem.. If i play a reference mastered track on the frontiers sounds really good up to 90dB spl (which is good enough considering their size) but when I mix i have to go down to 75dB Spl (which is a normal Thing to do) which i never had to do with the yamahas. the behavior of the frontiers is completely different. Soloing the kick at 90dB its obviously overloading the monitors hence the eccessive air pressure coming from the vent.I intend to specifiy that there is no distortion or saturation its just the air coming out of the vents that makes the noise. BY lowering my mixing level i can actually work. I just have to get used to it, after all As you may know about the yamahas which we both used for more than a decade , to get the mid-highs to come out clearly we needed to put the level up regardless of the flat response they known for, I mean the flat response is not linear all the time.. just in a certain dB range of sound pressure. Sorry for the long reply Let me know if you agree with this based on your experience. Thank you again Mauri

    @@shlomello Hey man that’s awesome and very thorough I love it I’m going to have to check that out for myself for most of my mixes I do mix with a subwoofer the TS108 from eve and that is great because I have my crossover set at 80 Hz and then when I do go to the satellites and push them I don’t get distortion but I do get the air from the front port so I will try that coming up in my next mix thank you for the awesome response bro I love this it starts the conversation and keeps it going and then we figure things out through trial and error and ideas I love this community

    @@TouchToneDSG hey bro of course, as a mix master engineer I am sure that only by going in the details about pro audio we can unveil their darkest secrets. Not everything is perfect not even the 22Gs barefoots, but with the right knowledge and informations we can give to the community we can make music sound better regardless if it is a grammy artist or a home producer, they have the right to sound amazing righttt ???? We are in the digital era there is no excuse. And by knowing what is right and how to use it you dont need to spend a fortune in proaudio. thats what I would love our community to understand. And thanks for your reviews bro I am happy to be a follower cheers.

    just my thoughts but i wouldn't consider these barefoot sound speakers. why? while yes, thomas barefoot did have some input on their design, i think it was hugely minimal and more of a marketing play then anything. these output frontier speakers don't have anything in common with a barefoot speaker. it isn't sealed. it doesn't have dual opposing woofers. it doesn't have hypex amps for each channel. and its a two way speaker. at a fundamental level, everything about these speakers differentiates itself from a barefoot speaker. if you haven't yet, I would try a real barefoot speaker. they are much better then these! but also much more expensive. the nice thing about the output frontier's though, is they are mega accurate. that's one thing they do share with barefoot speaker's sound. oh and they have a wider sweet spot and vertical directivity since they are a coaxil design.

    I would say that’s very accurate and some good points but I will say owning them they do sound great and you absolutely are correct as I said in the video the sweet spot for me is phenomenal but great assessment thank you

    @@TouchToneDSG dope! That's good to know I think I'm going to order them both and return the one I don't like as much. I'm also coming from the Yamaha Hs7 for about 5 years now. I think they are too bright and hype in the upper frequencies. Hard to hear that separation in the mix

    @NIKO Kasper Take a look at the APS Klasik 2020 ......... for that price you cant get better monitors. Btw. i had the alpha 65 and many other monitors before and for example the yamaha HS7 are for me entry monitors. Far from flat and and inaccurate even for mixing.

    I've seen comments (not here, mind you) that these are over priced. I have to disagree. A good set of studio monitors will run you at least as much as the Outputs Frontiers for just ONE monitor. These are priced extremely reasonable. Of course there are other companies making outstanding entry level monitors for half the price. But I believe it's all in what you want. If, as you state here, the build quality and soundstage is of the kind that is inherent with monitors of high caliber then these are a bargain. The entry level Barefoot Sound Footprint02 monitor will set you back $1475.00 for A SINGLE MONITOR! Output may have a solid winner here..but time will tell.

    I couldn’t agree more with your statement there are definitely some trade-offs with other high-end monitors in entry level monitors but for me overall they said a lot of the checkpoints I totally agree
