Minor nitpick: “Outlaws” is less like Party and more like “Historic,” a newly named batch for some stuff that already existed.

I mean, warriors, clerics, rogues and wizards all existed already, right? I'd argue it's the same as party :P also, Historic refers to types and supertypes, whereas both Outlaws and Party refer to subtypes, so I think there's more parallels there just my two cents :)

​@@milesstevenson1858 100% agree. It doesn't have the full party mechanic, but that wasn't the only way party was used.

6 mana instant speed Wrath with potential upside has me intrigued. There's no generic "destroy all creatures" at instant speed for that price anywhere. New Jace can I believe cast Footfalls, etc., although he also messed up Cascades.

Mtggoldfish has talked for a while how they dislike the overall cheesiness of the last few sets, and Outlaws has persuaded me. The cards seem really pushed and cool mechanically, but I feel a bit of distaste at all the punny cowboy stuff. Also, why does every set mechanic need to be new and have a different keyword? Magic has such a huge catalogue of mechanics that it’s wild to me how infrequently they return to them. I think part of why people get burnt out on new sets is that they have to relearn everything.

it’s a new plane, and the reason that loads of old characters from different planes are here is because of omenpaths. without getting into too much detail they basically mean anyone can move between planes, so you don’t need to be a planeswalker anymore

The mercenary token should be able to target opponent's creatures; your outlaws should be able to commit crimes.

Final showdown...doesn't it take its own indestructible clause away from creatures lose all abilities clause?

Taken out of context, the crime reminder text sounds like it's parodying the attitudes of certain casual players.

Set looks interesting but once again feels a bit odd with how parasitic some of these mechanics seem to be. The set feels less like MTG and really trying to just push the "Western cowboy plane" theme harder than any other set I've seen. I can't possibly imagine how they're going to ever implement "Saddle" or "Spree" into future sets. Plot feels like a re-used version of foretell that was probably axed in Kaldheim development.

Mtg died with murder. Limited picking events just are not as fun.
