I dug a trench in the ground and had a local spray foam company come out and encased my lines in a 12" x 12" block. It has been 6 years and still no temp loss in my 100ft run. Half the cost of thermoplex.

I think that is a much better route than thermopex. I've been reading that the thermopex (pex itself) can't expand and contract because of the foam, and that stuff does expand, my 90' run increases in length at least 8" from 50*f to 180*f.

Very informative video. I will be going into my 3rd winter with my OWB. Mine is kinda homemade and I have only been running baseboards in my basement off of it but I think it's finally working good enough where I can start looking at tying it into my main boiler. I had kinda planned on custom fabricating some variation of shell and tube heat exchanger to transfer heat from my Atmospheric setup on the OWB to the pressurized system. Now I am looking at how small of a plate heat exchanger you are using and I am starting to think maybe I don't need as massive of a heat exchanger as I was envisioning for making the heat swap between the two systems. I don't know if you already covered it but people might appreciate a video on how you chose the appropriate heat exchanger for the application.

Suppose that's not quit so bad as twice as much. Another thing I was reading about with thermopex, is that there is extra stress put on the pex because it cannot expand and contract, (length wise, not gurth). My run to the house is about 90', in the summer, when the pex is ground temp, there's barely an inch sticking out of the wall, when the boiler is running full tilt and water temp is 170-180, the pex sticks out of the wall a good 8-10 inches...

You can run pex into 4” drain lines with holes, then use canisters of spray foam to insulate it roughly 400$

How do you get the Ethylene glycol into the system? Great video :)

I used a large rubbermaid tote, mixed my 50/50 water/glycol, then used a transfer pump to pump it into the lines.

How much wood are you going through in a season. That’s a huge boiler

Hi there, yes, it's the largest one that wood master makes, I definitely don't need one this size, it's rated for 20,000sqft, i'm only heating just over 5,000.. LOL. I would not have bought this size, but I found it at an auction and only paid $1500 for it (I did have to do a lot of work to it, including cutting out and welding in a huge chunk of the water jacket). I made a video of the both the water jacket repair (more of a slide show because that was before I started the YT channel) and of how much wood I go through now. But last season I went through about 50-55 face cord.
