I actually found out that the incorrect thickness problem at 4:51 can happen to geometry nodes as well, but there's a pretty easy fix that I found out thanks to this video! I used to do the edit mode thing and it was absolute hell, but this is way easier. Anyway, just select the Vertex Painting Tab (which you can get to from the Object Mode/Edit Mode/Pose Mod control panel) and simply select the "subtract" brush (or just leave ctrl pressed with the normal brush) and paint over the undesired parts. Since the outlines work with vertex colors, it will remove them from the eyes and mouth (and make sure to also use it on the teeth and tongue so it's completely clean). It's not the best method but it works pretty well.

Something similar can also be done with weight paint. Paint unwanted places in red or yellow, and then if you do everything as in the video, then in these places the line will become thinner or disappear altogether.
I want to say that this shader can be used not only for models from games, but also for pmx models and even for models of original characters! However, the model will need to be prepared in advance. For example, if you have a Lumin mmd model, then you just need to find the lightmap textures and color ramps of the Lumin model from the game. And yes, most likely the script will not work on the pmx model, but all the textures can be set manually. As for completely original characters, you will need to draw lightmap and color ramp textures there - this is not an easy procedure, but doable. In other words, if you want to put the FESTIVITY'S shader on your model, it must have the same textures as the models from the game. For my character, I had to draw additional lightmap textures for the textures of hair, dress, skin and face, also slightly change the color ramp from Hoyoverse to fit my character and that's it. I was able to put this shader on my model. By the way, it seems to me that this video needs a second part, about how and where to put textures manually, as well as about how the lightmap texture works and what its channel is responsible for. Think about it please!

Yes pls! The script doesn’t work for the kazuha pmx model that I have so when I do the F3 to apply the texture, it doesn’t work. I need to know how to apply the textures manually 😭😭

This is awesome.. Old but still viable.. THe part where I'm not sure how to make is making the model have shadows in environment or have the environment object to cast shadows on the character model..

Most of the models I've checked is working but textures are missing for most of backparts (backside of cloaks, dress, etc). How to fix them?

@@mlouied yep, just slide ‘use vertex colours’ in the shader node to 0 (or 1 if that doesn’t change anything)

Thank you for the video! Especially loved the comparison at the end. Anyone know if there's an easy way to create a rigify rig out of the fbx models used in this video? Id love to switch to Festivity's shader, but right now, I'm using MMD models because I have an addon that automatically converts MMD rigs to Rigify rigs, and since Festivity doesnt work with MMD, I'm using Ben Ayers.

I'm looking for such a plugin myself, share the name if you find it. I also use MMD models but with the FESTIVITY'S shader, since I have all the textures from the model from the game, as I wrote above, I just manually install the shader on the mmd model using textures from the games and everything works out fine. But yes, it takes effort.

Update: I coded my own script files that did this for me. I now got a 30-second way of making a Rigify rig out of all the Genshin fbx models. It's in Festivity's server.

why Festivity's shader doesn't compatible with mmd models? datamined version of the textures (difuses, shadow ramps, and lightmaps) can be obtained by using ninja ripper while playing genshin impact, it won't harm your account btw, use sacrificial account to rip the textures if you are worried something bad will happen to your account.

THANKS for your tutorial! It's good teaching lesson. However, 小二令 is actually 小二今.令 and 今 are two different characters.
OOT, can I ask a question about cloth physics?, I have been struggling with that, like how you do it in your animation, i use wiggle 2 addon and still look bad

I use BoneDynamics, and tweak the settings till I like it. Sometimes I use Simplicage to create collisions for the models, but most of the time I just use Anim Layers to adjust remove clipping

yeah, i opened the scripts folder and only found the ones for duplicating meshes and converting blender stuff to mmd.
I'm having a problem with, Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "\genshin-import-linear.py", line 67, in execute AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'material' I don't know what's going on with this.

When I press F3 and import the textures, it says: "Python: Traceback (most recent call last) : File "\genshin-import-linear.py", line 81, in execute Key Error: 'bpy_prop_collection[key]: key "Face_Diffuse" not found'. Do you know how to fix this error?

You need to change a few things in the script: 1. Uncomment line 46 (remove the # at the start) 2. In line 80 and 83, replace the body_var at the end with face_var. 3. In line 81 and 85, change the number in the square bracket from [2] to [0]. Hopefully this works for you.

@@mlouied @Dimas Prasatya Sorry it has been a while since I last used the script so I can't really tell what's wrong. These errors tend to be different depending the model so it can be hard to pinpoint what's going on.

Yep, just assign a new material to the teeth, and either use the same shader or an emission shader for it and set the colour to whatever you desire!

No, this shader is for Genshin models. If you want to plug your character into a similar shader, I suggest looking at Ben Ayer's Genshin shader here: www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/9nrrR/genshin-impact-character-shader-for-eevee

You don't need to unzip the file, just directly select the zip file in blender's addon installation screen

AFAIK the geonode based outlines will not be functional, but the shader itself would probably still work.

Download the .blend file in the link, then in blender at the top left of the screen press file > append, find the .blend file you downloaded, and follow the instructions in the video
