$1,600 is a little too steep for me but it's a cool little raft. I saw the STS boys fishing with these and worked out great on a small stream.

Yeah I found a floor model for about half price and went with that!

That’s a cool little boat! Looked like a fun excursion. Professional Override 😂 I like it. And glad you’re being a dad, I don’t get the lack of PFD’s on the river. I’ve been laughed at for wearing one in my drift boat on the mighty McKenzie. I’ll be the nerdy guy bobbing down the river over crawdad food any day.

Yeah super fun! What’s a day of fishing without a pro override or two? 😂 I don’t understand the no PFD thing either. Makes no sense. Glad you’re one of the sane one out there!

What do you do with all the boats you own and I only have one in possession

Awesome review man! You said youve had multiple personal rafts before this one, have you had a watermaster kodiak before? If so I would love to hear about your thoughts/preference between the two. Thanks again for an awesome video and any information you can provide!!

Thanks! I have not owned a Watermaster...only because my buddy has two so I always use his. I've rowed that thing a bunch and think it is a really good boat. The major difference is the oars... The watermaster has pin thru the shaft style, so you can't pull them in or feather them. Thats really, for me, the only drawback to that boat. I do like sitting up a fair bit higher on the Outcast too. Hope that helps!

You think this would be a good coastal trib boat for winter steelhead? Or better for lower water conditions?

I think it would be pretty good on the coast. It backtrolled nicely and I think you could take some pretty good whitewater in it. Of course, huge wave trains or big holes might be tough in a 9 foot boat but Class 3 I think would be fine.

Good Evaluation, JD. I have two questions, please. 1. I am old with knee issues, so am wondering how hard it is to get in and out? 2. About how long does it take to inflate and deflate. None of the videos I have seem for this boat talk about that. Thanks

It’s a bit tougher than some of the other ones I’ve rowed because the tubes are wider…but not bad. That of course, makes it more buoyant and thus safer in big water. The deflate is quick. To inflate with a hand pump: approx 10 min.
