Out-Fished Badly - So I Did This!

Спорт

Have you ever watched in frustration as someone out-fishes you badly? Being severely out-fished is a learning opportunity! How you react can make the difference between a frustrating fishing trip and a great one. This video will contrast jigging styles and shows how it often pays to watch those fishing around you and be willing to make adjustments if you're not the one holding a bending rod.

What "Doc" is basically doing is drop-shotting...A killer smallie and largemouth technique.Even without his sinker lifting off the bottom the two baits of the hi-low are dancing around when he creates slack then comes tight..Deadly at times..As you can see here..

John I did the same thing last weekend with my rig. By just dipping the rod tip a little and then lifting it up you can impart enough action to get those gulp grubs moving without ever lifting the sinker off the bottom. This technique is used a lot in freshwater. Think they call it drop shot.

What was the drift speed? The chicken rig works really well in medium to high drifts; better than most other rigs, mostly because it presents so well; partially because it doesn't get tangled up much and, if you use dropper loops, it doesn;t spin often either. Jeff Viamari has a good video demonstrating how to tie the chicken rig. FYI, we use it inshore fishing, such as at Block Island, so it's not just for the Nantucket Shoals.

Skinner was wise to copy Doc. I found that using a heavier weight & almost dragging... I said almost... was more effective than being snag paranoid . If you miss a hit let the line out a little to touch bottom and keep your bait close to the fish. Today is August 13, 2022. Summer doldrums. Plus I was kinda tired from doing an all nighter with no sleep the night before. That made me a bit slower but aware of that so I tried harder ... Still looking for my double digit fish. It's amazing at how badly fluke want a pc of terribly chewed fluke belly.

John- I think that it's possible that even with Doc's soft action rod that he was still inducing movement of the teasers on his chicken rig even if he wasn't moving the sinker with rod bump action. The teasers are light weight and will more readily respond to "guitar-string plucking action" with the bottom of the rig (sinker) acting like an anchor on the bottom. Just a strong guess on my part. If you could drop a camera down near his rig you might be able to more readily see what his rig is doing while he's working it in his way.

  • @JohnSkinnerFishing

@@JohnSkinnerFishing ofcourse,i forgot to specify what kind of fishing i was talking about, usually we fish for small or medium fish on a light tackle with soft head rods, and not in deep waters ofcourae so we dont use heavy sinkers, generally i was aiming for light fishing and not jigging with heavy jigs or fishing with bait with heavy sinkers ,u r totally right

Aren't you soppose to keep your pole up and definitely out of the water! I don't want to correct you, but I kept yelling that to myself. Since I got stressed over that I had to share with you.

so you think he was draggin the rig on the sand like a crab?

Not dragging, but at that depth and with that rod and with that much scope and that jigging action, he was definitely putting less motion on the rig than I was. It's what they wanted that trip. I think he would have done better substituting a bucktail for the sinker.
