Ойындар
MONSTERS OF DRAKKENHEIM is 300+ pages of eldritch horror inspired monsters for 5e by the Dungeon Dudes! Coming to Kickstarter March 26th, 2024: www.kickstarter.com/projects/... We discuss our top choices for magic items to award the Clerics and Druids at your game table, Both being primary casters, it can be difficult to find magic items that speak to these classes while steering clear of overlap with the other Spellcasting classes. We look at some of the choices that are fun and fair, but also speak to the nature and divine elements these casters bring to the table.

I don't know if I just missed him saying it, but the most important thing about the necklace of prayer beads (for me anyway) is that any spell cast from a bead is cast as a bonus action! That's huge.

Variant Magic Item - Staff of the Monty Python! 😄 With a command word, this staff will transform into a dead parrot, a shrubbery or a rectangular canister containing a gelatinous, brownish-pink substance. By expending one charge, the wielder can utter the word “Ni!” and those within a 15’ cone in front of the wielder suffer 1d8+1 sonic damage with no save. By expending two charges, the wielder can make creatures in a 20’ by 20’ by 20’ cube confused (per the confusion spell) unless a successful saving throw is made. By expending three charges, the wielder causes a 15’ cone of bile and digestive juices to erupt from his/her/its mouth, doing 3d8+3 damage unless a successful save is made. By breaking the staff over his/her/its knee (or similar appendage), the wielder calls down a •retributive stomp•. A gigantic 30’ x 10’ bare foot falls from the heavens, squashing anyone and anything beneath it flat unless a successful DC 15+the wielder’s spell proficiency vs. Dexterity is rolled. Side effects of owning this item include a propensity for silly walks, muttering non sequiters in a high-pitched and strangely-accented voice and bouts of cowardice.

I recommend changing the three charges / ultimate ability to: "Then shalt thou expend three charges, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt expend, and the number of the expenditure shall be three. Four shalt thou not expend, neither expend thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then break thy Staff of the Monty Python upon thy knee and lobbest thou shards towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

Another great item for druids now is serpent scale armor. It's scale mail that's not made of metal and you can apply your full Dex modifier instead of just the normal max of +2 and it doesn't impose disadvantage on stealth checks and it's only an uncommon item!
"What druid doesn't wan't to cast fireball..." - a druid in the middle of a wood at summer. :)
“The Hide of the Feral Guardian” is an amazing item for Druids (especially Circle of the Moon druids) from Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount. The Druid player in my homebrew campaign is in for a pleasant surprise soon! :D
Before watching the video : last night I watched the video on wizard's magic items and wanted to see the one for clerics, since I play a cleric. Was surprised you still hadn't done it! And now you just publish it! I know you heard the need on my heart.
Barrier tattoo from Tasha The VR version gives 18AC which stacks with dex mod and shields. Gives 18 base AC when not wearing any other armor, stacks with shields, and can be argued to stay worn when wildshaped. Great for tankier builds as well as those which don't have the extra HP of the moon druid
My Druid has a Staff of Healing, and it's genuinely been a combat-winning item. Our DM tends to roll a lot of crits on us, and having the Mass Cure Wounds on the whole party is really useful - especially because I'm playing a damage-focused, spellcaster Druid. Definitely recommend.
Love the item suggestions. Usually magic items are rare to extreme rare in my campaigns.. but I love the items you've chosen so far. It gives me creativivity
Locket of the Monster's Soul: Druid amulet that requires attunement. A druid can store a piece of a monstrosity like a mimic or similar and for 2 uses of Wild Shape the druid can turn into that monstrosity. The piece inside the locket is consumed until the druid puts a new piece inside

Excellent choices all around (from someone who prefers to play clerics and druids); Staff of the Woodlands is also nice because it's typically large enough for you to use it with Treestride at higher levels if you are a druid

Love these ideas thanks guys! I second the reflavoring existing items, especially to make a PC feel special. Pearl of power and staff of healing I've seen reflavored unique to a deity so inky a cleric or paladin of them can use it and the pedal of power also reflavored as an undying flower for a druid. For the druidic sentinel shield, hide and wicker shields are also quite historic. An oval of the densely woven roots of a bog oak or a stretchered froghemoth skin could be very visual.

Great video guys, thanks for the quality content again and again. Also... That spiffy moustache is awesome.
At 4:25 I thought the same thing and I ABSOLUTELY DIED when I looked at Kelly
For the druid, one could reskin Scale Mail armor as Crocodile Scale Armor, so that they could get that 14+ 2dex worth of AC. I mean, there's always stuffed crocodiles and other such creatures in a wizard's workshop - whose to say that a druid, who wanted some extra protection, wouldn't borrow the scales of a crocodile? Besides, giant crocodiles have an ac of 14, so it could work.
Glad they mentioned Staff of the Python first off. I've made a Hat of the Toad (Giant Toad summoner) for my swamp druid and it was a huge hit.
After Tasha's, I think the Eldritch Claw tattoo (a more generic item than insignia of the claw which is faction specific) takes that uncommon slot for druids.
I'm using a candle of invocation on my order cleric in curse of strahd. My first turn is almost always light the candle as my action, then bonus action cast bless. So useful.
Kelly with the silent "oh my" absolutely destroyed me, was about to say it till I saw the cheeky grin, Well played
Jesus that stache leveled up from this passed Tuesday. So clean. So sharp
Love the stache Kelly!!! And this is a super helpful video!
You can use counterspell on your own turn while casting a spell. It is even mentioned in the Sage Advice compendium, counterspelling on turn specifically
Since a couple of these items were druid only, I would have liked to see a different item chosen or the classes split up into 2 videos because the clerics kind of got robbed in this video.

Completely agree! Druids - yes, at least some type of the, cleric - except the rod of resurrection, nothing divine here.
Twilight cleric/star druid is one of my all time favourite builds, and the only magic items I requested from my dm were purely flavour. Stuff like a telescope that ignore other light sources shit like that. Coz a star druid/twilight cleric is already the character
As for the Rod of Absorption, RAW Counterspell targets the creature, not the spell. This has been confirmed by Jeremy Crawford. So you should be able to absorb a Counterspell that's targeting you if: - you haven't used your reaction yet during the round _(and)_ - the spell you're trying to cast doesn't require a somatic/material component _(or)_ - your other hand is free to perform the somatic/material component of the spell you're casting (even if it has both S,M components because they can be done by the same hand per the PHB).
I've never agreed with the druids aversion to metal. From a taoist philosophy, metal is considered an element in it's own right. For naturalists and common sense, I see metal as a natural and perfect union of earth and fire, and I've always allowed druids to use metal gear in my games
We homebrewed that my Celestial Warlock could attune to the Staff of Healing since she was the party's healer, we just changed it so that it was a 'gift' from her patron... whom just so happens to be her mother.
Ooh dragon scale mail sounds awesome!
Another potential cleric item that brings some of “Moses and the Seven Plagues” vibe, Staff of Swarming Insects. It has 10 charges to cast Giant Insect, Insect Cloud, and Insect Plague. My DM picked this out when I joined the group because by then, everyone had a magical item. I’ve gotten some really great use out of it, especially when I have the space to throw out Insect Plague and catch a lot of enemies in the space. I’ve even severely injured/killed two wyverns with it!
My Hill Dwarf Life Cleric was eagerly anticipating this video.
Thanks guys!!! Helpful stuff, twilight cleric w/ a 1 level dip in monk (and ooh she wishes was more of a monk) and dip into druid planned, fairy follower of Titania! Currently delving into the Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. My mission - keep my nut bar party alive, so far - they are... so far...
Not making that many 5E characters these days, but I'll keep that video in mind ;) Good stuff!
In a campaign where I play an Aaracokra druid, the Staff of the Woodlands helps me to sleep, turning into a tree where I can put my nest. Better than a bedroll.
I introduced a homebrew variant for insignia of claws that gives additional special abilities when in the presence of a dragon. The wearer can see through the dragon's eyes and get a sense for its upcoming attacks, providing some defensive reaction capabilities. It might only come up once in the campaign, but could make for a fun moments.
Insignia of the claw was super good as my uncommon magic item, level 5 one shot. Bypassing non-magic resistance was excellent before it popped online.
Kelly, I really like the mustash! Yes, it is me who said too read ch.6all the time!
Nice list. I was just trying to find out what to give my cleric in the party. She keeps asking for a cool mace(which she already has one) but I kinda want to push toward more interesting things
I thank the algorithm for introducing me to you guys. love your videos
Great 'stache Kelly! They're a bunch of work, but you pull it off, nicely
Pipes of haunting are super useful on a cleric, as you often want to reserve your spell slots and need something punchy to do still
Staff of Woodlands is a great item for Rogues with Thief archetype too.
Dude ! That is one SICK stash !
I wish I could rock an Epic Stache like Kelly can. That stache alone gives him a plus 5 to Charisma.
a good legendary magic item for druids is the hide of the feral guardian from explores guide to wildemount. it is a better version of the insignia of claws because not only does it boost damage but also ac while wild shaped
To my knowledge this is not a magic item that exists, but the only thing I've ever wanted for my cleric is something that increases my spiritual weapon's movement by 10ft so it matches my character's speed.
the staff of the python reminds me of the yanti spell sticks to snakes in 2nd ed mods
The necklace of prayer beads is also very useful in diversifying the spell list and increasing the spell slots of the Paladin. Moreover, the fact that spells can be cast as a bonus action it can allow you to do other things with your action (like attack, cast cantrips, use channel divinity, etc). IMO it's one of the more powerful low level items especially if your GM gives you the max beads (6) and allows you to choose the beads. For balance though perhaps it should only have 4-5 slots at most and the player can choose only 1-2 beads while the GM rolls the others randomly.
Kelly, your stache is amazing! Also, great video!
I would be Very happy to your Campaign as a healing Druid or cleric!
The best magic item in this whole video is that beautiful mustache, Kelly!!!
My druid has two fabulous magic items, The Candle of Invocation, which allows him to cast first level spells like they are cantrips and not worry about spell slots. The Staff of Swarming Insects, which allows him to be in heavy obscurement, but be able to see OUT of that obscurement without any penalty. I love sitting in my cloud of bugs and fling ice knives out at advantage.
never seen a debate over Counterspell while casting another spell it only has somatic but I have seen people say that using a magic item has to be an action but I have also seen JC mention that it would be pointless for it to take an action to interact with a magic object if it is a scroll of counterspell. he implied that if a magic item used a spell it used the economy of the spell plus the Rod specifies reaction. it would kinda defeat the purpose of the item if you have to hold your action to wait for the unwanted spell to target you.
My Cleric has the Sentinel Shield. :) With her wisdom of 20 & advantage on checks her perception is great! I was given an option between that and the Pearl of power. (and another item that was easier to not choose). Did the heading for the shield get forgotten? Accidentally deleted? Some interesting choices.
Staff of the Woodland could be interresting for a Ranger ... or a Eldritchknight / bladelock. The prayerbeads can make a good growing magic item as you hunt/ create/quest for additional prayerbeads for your necklace. Adamantine armor would be good for the Cleric.
Hi! May i suggest a video on best *party* items? Transportation, utility items like bag of holding, carpet of flying, portable hole, robe of useful items, etc? I would love to hear your opinions for my future games!
I was listening to this in the background for a while and half way thought the video I looked at the screen and said out loud, "Wow look at that stashe."
Rocking the stash, real props to Kelly!
Our party used the staff of the woodlands to awken a set of large vegetables we bought from a giant. We are now training theses awakened vegetables to be sidekicks using the tashas sidekick rules
I just got the Staff of Frost for my Druid...of course we're in Rime of the Ice Maiden, so not sure how useful that's gonna be offensively, but defensively it DID give me Cold Resistance and Fog Cloud is a Boring Yet Practical option, given how useful it can be.
Hey. Any chance of you doing a video on a Artificer Battle Smith/Bladesinger Wizard multi class? I’m trying to run one atm and having some ideas how to continue would be epic!
excited for the bard edition!
A really good and simple magic item for clerics and paladins alike that can be useful is an amulet that puts out a cone of "daylight" It affects vampires, gives light, and depending on the power of the item you can make the light cast banishment on evil outsiders as an action
Thanks for doing your thing. Love your channel and content

I'd bet these are recorded earlier, but audio is much better here. I'm not being assaulted in one ear only by each dungeon dude.
I used the staff of the woodlands as an artificer to escape from the temple of Tiamat for our home version of The Rise of Tiamat. It was able to bring me and our barbarian out the temple's open ceiling for our climactic battle.
Captain Planet yes please, I would like a video of your interpretation of the Heart ring and Cap himself.

i had the staff of woodlands as a neutral evil LIzardfolk spore druid, i did a similar thing with downtime and created an army of awakened trees using the staff however i also had the trees hollowed out and filled with spore zombies, lol. I sent the trees into a warcamp of a faction we were working against and had the trees unload all the zombies in hte camp as a distraction. it was alot of fun
