"Liana was over there taking it as a boss and I was over there forcing myself not to cry because I was so scared" Their relationship is the best one I have seen online. I feel like a lot of women don't know the many ways their birth can go, when Liana said she was fed fairytales of how her birth will happen is so true how a lot of women have it. It's so nice to see both mom, dad and baby healthy and happy.

Most women don’t have a fairytale. birth. Many many women have extremely traumatic pregnancies and/or births, and many have births that fall somewhere in between. I personally haven’t seen many fairytale births in my time. But I understand telling yourself, and ob’s telling first time moms to be calm and it’ll be beautiful. I have never been the type. I tell moms the truth, to not be scared, but it might be very very scary, but we will take care of you. Honesty is important. I’d say probably 40% of patients consider their birth traumatic, especially those who have to get emergency c-sections with little to no warning and those who go into labor very early, but women seldom talk about it because it often makes them feel guilty to admit that they didn’t love how their child came into the world

Completely agree. I think anyone that’s going into birth has to expect it 1) to not go the way you want it too. I know you can’t prepare from trauma. And birth isn’t traumatic for everyone. I know I was lucky to have the experience I did but not everyone has that. My best friend had a really difficult time and it sounded very scary. She said she would not do it again. She was to traumatised by the experience

Just want to say thank you for all you do . I’ve had 3 natural births, but this last on July 29th was the wildest experience. My water broke at my regular dr appointment when he went to check my cervix so I had to go get induced and I only had 4 hours of insane contractions, I got one every time I moved my body and they were inconsistent the whole time but extremely intense. My labor nurse was AMAZING. Daddy was too but I think he was also 😳 about how it was going down . She really got me through the whole thing! I almost got an epidural just bc the doctor asked if I wanted one in the middle of an intense contraction, so out of complete fear and pain I said yes , she calmly asked me if that’s what I really wanted and I said no , and my daughter came so fast that she caught her! I will never forget her . This was also the first time I didn’t have my momma with me and she took on that roll for sure . ❤ thank you for all you do!!

My brother and sister in law went through this emotional rollercoaster of nearly losing my sisters in law as her uterus and bladder both had ruptured during her BVAC attempt. She had an emergency c-section but the staff wouldn’t listen to her when she kept saying something is VERY WRONG. She waddled into the hallway screaming something is wrong and a doctor finally did an ultrasound and saw what was happening. Her numbed her right there and started cutting while they were wheeling her into the OR as he said they had about 3 minutes or less to get baby out or they would lose them both. They both lived but it was a terrifying time and it took months for the family to recover from it. I don’t wish that on anyone. I’m thankful for your medical team that was willing to give you the opportunity to try to have a natural birth, but stepped in and helped you through a very difficult delivery and post-birth period. Glad you and baby are safe but you did go through something traumatic. Take your time and heal mentally, emotionally and physically my dears.

This happened to my biological mother with me. First baby though. I was breech and footling and labor stopped completely (I’m adopted so this story is amazing to me. We met when I was 21). When the drs finally checked in on her after 12 hours I was in distress so they raced to surgery and I was born in three minutes. She was hiding this pregnancy from everyone so she had no prenatal care and was so I’ll she only gained ten pounds. I was 7 pounds 9 ounces. She even showed me the scar where I came out. Isn’t life amazing?

I can’t believe how similar our stories are. My son was born on August 4th via c-section. I stopped progressing at 7 cm and the dr said the baby’s head was tilted and said we may have to consider a c-section. There was also meconium in my fluid. After trying to continue naturally for 3 more hours, the dr suggested a c-section again and at this point we decided to go forward with it. After he was out the dr said there was no way he was coming vaginally due to the position of his head. After my husband left with the baby I started having an anxiety attack while on the operating table. The anesthesiologist told me that they were almost done but then 30 more minutes passed and they were still working. After what felt like forever they were taking me to the recovery room and I was shaking uncontrollably, crying, and couldn’t catch my breath. I found out in recovery that I had hemorrhaged during surgery and that’s why it took so long. My mom and husband kept asking if I wanted to hold the baby but I was shaking so bad I was afraid to hold him. Eventually the shaking stopped and the anxiety attack passed and I thought the bad part was over. We were discharged on the 5th day but 2 days later I was in my drs office because I had an infection and my incision had opened. I started to show signs of PPD pretty much as soon as we got home from the hospital. Yesterday marked 4 weeks since surgery and we are still working on getting the wound to heal completely. This was not how I ever imagined the birth would go and it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But we made it through and I have my beautiful baby boy. Thank you for sharing your story and making me feel less alone in this experience ❤️

I think its really awesome that couples cover their deliveries like this, you guys did an amazing job with the camera work, the editing, I really enjoyed Liana talking about what she felt, as a young woman, 23 years old, and I've never had a pregnancy scare, never missed a cycle, but in 5 years with my partner, nothing, I have done some readership just trying to learn what its like, alot of my friends from school are growing up and having kids in curious when or if I ever will too, Im so glad you guys are together and have this beautiful family together now, you're such a beautiful couple, the way Connor catered and tended and cared for Liana was just beautiful to see. Much love you guys! Congratulations! And amazing Job Liana! I hope i can be a brave strong mother like you one day in the future!

My son was 5 weeks premature and I started bleeding behind my uterus. I managed to deliver naturally, but passed out as they showed him to me. My husband didn’t tell me until my son was about 8 that he nearly lost us both that day, and as a man who could lay his hand to anything, how helpless he felt. I am so glad you’re all fine, and I and my now 22 year old 6’2” son wish you health and happiness. ❤️

I've had two sons naturally and they were both so quick, that with one of them(can't remember which one), the doctors said I had ripped my uterus(or something) and I was bleeding heavily. They had to inject me(inside) with something that apparently stopped the bleeding. Both sons were 8 pounds something in weight. I can't even imagine going through labor for days, with little progress then having to have a C-section. And then with so much blood loss. I started following you after your baby came, so I am backtracking to catch up. You are both such a sweet and genuine couple. I wish your little family the best, and many blessings into 2023.

From Connor letting his guard down and getting emotional to Liana talking about how her only thoughts were the fact that if she died the baby was safe, this was beautiful. Growing up in a house filled with children, I've seen births go to plan, I've seen births not go to plan. I'd definitely say this deserves a massive well done, you handled it amazingly. I'm sorry that you don't get your chilled home birth but I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for being so open and honest about the reality of birth and how everything can change in an instant. I guarantee that this video is going to help SO many mums and dads in the future and make them realise they aren't alone and it's okay to be disappointed or upset about how difficult..traumatic and upsetting labour can be! By being so brave and open about the reality of birth your bringing comfort to so many people out there who don't have the "perfect" birth and it's so important to show the other side because all to often we only get to see the picture perfect labour stories where everything goes to plan e though the majority of births are not as movies and media present it to be. Of course my heart breaks for the fact you both had to go through such a difficult and stressful life experience and would have loved for you to have gotten the relaxing home birth you had planned for. However this experience is son important to share and if more people showed the hard and scary parts people would be better prepared when things do go wrong. Hats of to you both again you dealt with a extremely painful and complex birth so well and I hope you are able to health from the physical and mental scars a birth with complications can bring you. I wanted to say to Connor he was an amazing partner and although he isn't physically experiencing the pain birth partners often take on a lot of the trauma when complications arise because they are fully conscious and aware of everything going wrong. The person in labour if flooded with adrenaline and exhausted almost in a semi-conscious state not fully aware of everything happening which in cases like this is often a blessing . I've had a large bleed before and I was so woozy and out of it I make me weirdly calm and not fully aware of the imminent danger and panicking amongst the staff. Of course the pain is horrific and the experience was without a doubt traumatic it was defiantly worse for the mainly watching as they could see the bleeding and the life fading out of me coupled with the sense of utter helplessness and wanting to "fix it" . For that reason I'm blown away at how well Connor dealt with the whole situation because it's absolutely terrifying and you have to put on a brave face for your partner and he handled it perfectly. I hope the both of you continue to open up about the trauma and share your feelings .. I've NEVER been more proud of two strangers and I'm in complete awe of how strong and healthy your relationship is 😍. Often men feel like they can't complain or have a cry about what happened because they weren't the ones physically experiencing the pain but especially in situations like this the birthing partner takes on a huge amount of the stress..trauma and emotional turmoil and it's complexly okay to be terrified and be upset about what happened after all Connor had to watch on for days unable to do anything to really help and then he had to watch as she was bleeding out feeling he had to be the one to hold it all together

We have 8 kids. I hemorrhaged with 6 of them. Our first 6 were delivered naturally and the last one was born at 25 weeks by cesarean. I worked in labor and delivery for over a decade. I always tell women that a birth plan is great, but to also remember baby will do what it wants and if it is healthy that is the main goal. So many people get very upset if it doesnt go the way they have always imagined/dreamed it would. I will say a cesarean doesnt feel as satisfying (if that makes sense) but most of these things are somewhat common. Not fun, but happen quite often. No one should feel like it wasnt one of the best experiences of their life if a healthy baby is the end result. Going through that as a first time parent can be scary though. Especially if they only pictured it one way during the whole pregnancy.

But then, I saw the look on Liana’s face as she said she basically felt content, bc she had at least delivered him and he was healthy.. The fact you started a family is wonderful. I can already tell you three will be a genuinely happy family. I’ve been in this situation twice myself and omg pregnancy was totally fine the first two trimesters but that third one closer to the due date was okay but so painful. I remember that feeling of “ugh I love you tiny human but please evacuate my body so I can actually have ANY comfort at all” lol. I had a scheduled induction with my first because she was “small”, but I cancelled it due to the fact that I was uncomfortable with the idea of inducing labor on my physicians schedule. My daughter came on her own accord the very next day. So you know what? Birthing plans don’t always work out and ultimately the only thing that matters is BOTH of you being totally healthy. I will say this much, you two are already awesome parents. Congratulations on your sweet little guy!

I teared up when Liana started talking about how amazing and supportive Conner had been, and when he kept saying how strong and amazing she was. Of course bringing a person in to the world is a beautiful thing, but I find it even more amazing when both parents can come together to support and uplift one another to see their creation come into the world. Congratulations to you both! Sending my prayers to you guys, and your amazing baby boy🥰

That’s like saying that someone’s not strong for idk, getting fucking stabbed and recovering like a champ after going through such a painful and traumatic experience because “they didn’t have a choice”. Most trauma (as a trauma survivor) comes without a choice. Although my trauma is extremely different than Lianas, she still had a traumatic birth. Your strength shouldn’t be diminished after going through a traumatic experience because “you didn’t have a choice”. That’s ridiculous.

@@vanillaxval what I meant is it doesn’t matter how that baby gets here, the most important thing is that the outcome is a healthy baby, and a healthy mom. And right now Liana is healthy. Yeah, she had a lot of super traumatic interventions, but she is alive, and doing as good as she can be under the circumstances. She very easily could have died, and her baby absolutely would have died if she had decided to stay home and try to push through what she was going through. She shouldn’t feed bad for having medical interventions that saved both of their lives. End of story.

I was recommended this video when I was about 9 months pregnant and I avoided watching it because I was afraid it would give me birth anxiety. I am glad I waited to watch it. I too had a similar experience in the beginning and had a midwife and planned a natural birth. Similarily, it was a 40+ hr labor and was not progressing well and hubby and me were exhausted. I related so well to you guys at that time. My water was broken at the hospital and I received Pitocin and it progressed from there and I was able to deliver naturally 🤞 Baby was much smaller than yours fortunately and positioned as he should. He did have severe meconium aspiration though and had to be on breathing support for a few weeks before we could get him home. All is well now 🙏 Beautiful video. You are amazing people and role models, parents. Congratulations and well done.

I’m sure that does happen too but I’m also quite sure that most, especially first time Mamas and papas have to go trough something like what you did. Maybe not as bumpy and scary as your complications don’t happen that often.. but what I’m trying to say is that birth is absolutely painful and distressing on mamas body and the baby. That tho does not mean that it is not worth it or always a horrible experience!! You three dis so great and I thank you for the bravery u have to share your journey!!❤️❤️

I had a very similar experience and I found it extremely difficult to talk about. You can request your birth notes, I read mine frequently during the first year. They can help you understand what happened, affirm your own memories and help to process the experience. My hospital also offered a birth debrief where the notes where fully explained minute by minute by the head midwife. I found that to be incredibly helpful. I also invested heavily in the idea of hypnobirthing and felt I was sold a pipe dream. You will heal physically and mentally, lean on your support network, vocalise your feelings often, cry all the tears. There will come a time when you can relay this story without having to relive the terror I'm sure you felt. Birth trauma is real, and a safe and healthy baby doesn't take away the trauma you've experienced. Sending lots of love and healing!

I'm so proud of them for honoring the mother's story separate from introducing babi. So often this is glossed over and then, like Liana said, people are fed fairy tales. I'm also so proud of them for taking time off from socials for the whole family, and especially Liana to recover. Birthing is beautiful, but it is also a major, traumatic event, even without the trauma of incredible invasive surgery. Good on you both for putting your needs first. Thank you for sharing an honest traumatic birth story. It was so nice to actually relate with someone who didn’t have a fairytale birth story. I’ve had 3 sons and all 3 of their births were different but incredibly difficult. It was comforting to see I’m not the only one that went through this type of situation. It’s frustrating or unrealistic to watch birth vlogs left and right where the mom goes into the hospital, gets an epidural, feel no pain, and the baby is born w zero complications lol. From one mom to another… you will never fully forget the trauma but it will fall to the back of your mind to where it’s of no consequence. If you want more children this unfortunate birth experience won’t even be a factor when making the decision to become pregnant again. Thank you again for your honesty. The two of you are amazing parents already. I’m definitely glad I just found your channel… better late than later to become a new subscriber.
