Not necessarily for me, if you understand what they mean in the song, it is enough to make this song emotional. There are actually many songs like that are kindof upbeat but has gloomy and melancholic feel because of the lyrics. It puts you in an emotional trance, like vibing spiritually.

Please don't react to the version of the truth untold where Jimin is wearing a black jacket, he had a very bad throat and haters used that against him to put out for the world to see that Jimin can't sing live. Yes, I cry every time I hear that song.

I think you guys would really like Blue and Gray, It is a heart felt slow song about depression with minimal instrumentation.

When you say emotional. It depends on what you mean by emotional. Black Swan is about artists without the motivation to go on to be an artist. That will be the first death and more painful than the actual death. If you mean by slower songs then maybe Fake Love, Truth Untold, House of Cards, Let me know, Rain, Dead Leaves, TEAR, Path, !2!3, Born Singer, and Tomorrow.

But in order to connect emotionally to the song you will have to pay close attention to the lyrics and understand what they are trying to tell you. So enjoyment of BTS songs come on different levels. The more effort you invest in them the more you will get out of them.

Also jimin could show off his contemporary dance skills, you can tell the passion he has for his dance just by watching this and seeing all the emotion he puts into every majestic beautiful dance moves. Jimin is and will always be my black swan that swooped down to save me

Did you read the lyrics? The black swan represents the first death. Meaning the death of creativity is the first death we experience before the final death. Also, always play BTS videos until the very end or you miss things.

Yeah that’s what I was wondering too when they said that it’s not emotional or maybe they couldn’t relate to the lyrics? As someone who’s been struggling with passion and creativity towards my hobby, this song hits the hardest, I even got ‘Black Swan’ tattooed on my body lol

You miss the full meaning if you don't watch till the absolute end.

Jimin is the solo dancer, as well as the shadow dancer for Suga & JK, (who you missed bec you didn't watch to the end). LOL. The dance Jimin is doing is considered, contemporary, not ballet, although the "Black Swan" is not only a ballet, but the movie was about a ballet dancer. The song contends with an artist's loss of their 'passion" for their art. Their sense of purpose; where do they go from here. Something I THINK BTS members were going through at the time of this song. I think they were trying to figure out a "new?" direction for them as a group to go. I could be mistaken, as I am sure other ARMYs will point out to me if I am, and it would be appreciated. This came out around the time of the pandemic. I think it was a time when the members were considering going on their hiatus and I think Jin was actually considering joining the military at that time....again, I could be remembering incorrectly. This is one of my FAVORITE BTS Songs.....I love the dancing. All the guys can dance, which is amazing, but I love contemporary dance, so it especially appealed to me. Continue on your journey guys, you will NOT be disappointed!

It's not the music or the beat that would qualify it as emotional but the lyrics and the message are. This is about the fear of losing your passion for the thing you love most in life. In their case it would be about losing the passion for and not being moved by music but this can hold true for anyone. It's correct that a lot of the dancing in here is contemporary dance which some also call interpretive dance. Different from ballet, but you are correct the Black Swan story and movie are about a ballerina.

Jimin was utilizing his Contemporary Dance skills. He first learnt Hip Hop then entered the Busan School of Arts where he studied Contemporary Dance, and Traditional Korean Dance. Contemporary Dance is based on Ballet they use the same terms. Y. As other's have stated this MV is about BTS as artists fearing losing their passion for their art or simply being unable to do their art anymore due to ill health etc etc. It's based on the Quote 'A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death' There is a ballet film called 'Black Swan' about a dancer. 'Black Swan' is a term used when talking/thinking about the fear of losing one's passion. I fear my Black Swan moment, I'm going through 'Black Swan'. It took me 6months to recover from my 'Black Swan' period in my career but my passion has returned'. . The whole of the MV is about BTS members thinking about their own 'Black Swan' eg 'I fear of what will I do, how will I feel if I lose my passion for my art' You missed the Shadow disappearing which is the Psychological concept of Persona, Shadow and Ego. Shadow being where our darkest bits live and our fears. . You missed it falling down to nothing which represents those fears of losing one's passion ( their 'Black Swan' moment) for your art being overcome/conquered

Yes, Namjoon (RM) wrote this song after watching the movie 'Black Swan' twice, it was really impactful for him and also the quote by Martha Graham. It goes somethings along the lines of; "An artist dies twice (cant remember what goes in the middle of the quote. Im sure other Army already commented it) and this second death is the most painful" Namjoon is a genius with an IQ of 148, and wrote many of the BTS early songs.💜♾

maybe the rhythm of the music can make it seem that the song is not emotional but if you understand what they mean with the lyrics of this song I would say that it is a super emotional and one of the most personal of BTS...

The song talks about the life of creative people and how important it is for them to continue living their business, not to stop and not be subjected to imaginary criticism from the outside - not to lose heart. The whole song is inspired by a quote by Martha Graham: "A dancer dies twice. The first time is when he stops dancing, and this first death is much more painful." That's what the guys are singing about: how, having become well-known stars and celebrities, they can lose love for their work, thereby losing themselves. They seem to remind themselves, listeners, and, of course, their fans that the most important thing in creative work is creativity, not popularity. It is impossible to let fame, wealth and almost intangible success overshadow the most important goals of your creative path. For both dancers and singers, the first death is the loss of interest and love for their own works, for their work: the loss of passion and the impulse to create - that's what really scares the most popular group in the world.

Suga of BTS (under his other name Agust D) has just released Amygdala which is an exceptionally sad & beautiful song.

You should see the live versions of this song. Especially at the 2020 end of the year award shows like MMA and MAMA. As well as the performance from the Permission to Dance tour. Huge spectacles, a nice blend of performing and visual art.

Black Swan is a song that expresses their fear of losing their passion for music. And ON is their determination to overcome that fear and move on to the future. :) BTS member Jin said in his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA that BTS suddenly became famous worldwide and had a hard time for a year due to great pressure and fear. They even thought about disbanding. However, after a year of talking and contemplating with the members, they decided to stay in the industry only for the fans and members, and move forward. The albums that have been released since then are Map of the Soul series. The albums are filled with songs that reconsider their inner self, the relationship between the seven members, and the relationship between them and fans. Black Swan, ON, Boy with Luv, and We are Bulletproof : the Eternal are one of those songs. Boy with Luv contains a message that they will fly toward fans, not the sun, with wings attached by ARMY. After listening to Black Swan, you can better understand how they feel by reading ON's lyrics. :) And at the last October's concert in Busan, SUGA told ARMY to grow old together because they will make music for another 20 or 30 years.😭 The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative. Check out the truth untold or house of cards by the vocal line, Bts has alot of sad songs but my top two sad songs are spring day and blue& grey. BTS has a wide variety of genres from latin pop, regular pop, hip-hop to rnb and so much more. the bts vocal line, especially jin are really good at expressing emotion and sadness. you should check out some of his solos like Yours or epiphany

This song is actually very emotional if you don't just focus on the vibe of the beat and read the lyrics. There's also and orchestra version(Art Film) BTS is not in the video, but a group of talented dancers are featured in there. I feel like the dance tells the story a bit more in depth along with the lyrics. (You can check it out in your free time)

Still in my Top 5 favorite BTS songs and videos. I hope y'all will react to A BTS Guide by Taylor. It wont explain their songs but you'll learn a bit more about each member. ✌💜✨🖤 There are 4 in the Dance Line but only Jimin (Contemporary) and Jhope (HipHop) had formal dance training pre BTS. By now you know this was Jimin taking the lead for Black Swan.

I think what you are asking for is a ballad… (1) The Truth Untold is sung by only the 4 vocal members and is a great way to start. Watch the love stage mix from Kamiru. (2) Your Eyes Tell is one of my favorites and includes all 7. Watch one of the live versions with English subs. (3) Film Out live with English subs. (4) Blue & Grey. I love the live performance through MTV. It was written by V. I also recommend you watch the live performance of Magic Shop. It is a song Jungkook wrote for Army and one of my personal favorites. This is a great list to start with. BTS also has many awesome ballads in Japanese.
