What seed did you sow on the edge of the pond? Grass seed? Your videos are great and it would be helpful to have some explanation or documentation to accompany them.

Moreno...it's fun to watch the progress being made on your homestead. You might have said this in a previous video but just wondering if you have always envisioned yourself living this lifestyle or if you're surprised by where you are today? You seem to be a natural at all you're doing and what you are creating for your family will be a legacy for your children. My guess is that you go to sleep at night with your heart full and your mind at peace by seeing what has been accomplished. Happy for you and proud of you! (Kentucky, USA)

Loving the editing but there are so many questions unanswered: Is the spring filling up the pond flowing all year round? Why putting out all that straw? Was it grass seed or fertiliser that you scattered around the pond? Did you bring the ducks with you? You see, I’m trying to trick you into an explanatory voice over of some kind …

The duck's poop will fall to the bottom of the dam and mix with whatever vegetable matter is there. (Grass clippings, etc can be added to help.) This forms what is known as 'gley', which becomes in effect a membrane that helps prevent water from leaching away from the dam.

  • @happycamper4329

@@mandiegarrett1706 I don't know exactly why he did that but, my guess is that the seeds would fall through the straw when it rained or was watered. Sometimes, when you cast the seeds first and then cover with straw, the seeds don't always have a chance to germinate because of the covering. The straw will soften through watering, and the seeds will germinate within the straw (which will also act as mulch).

Never have duck eggs all my life, only chicken eggs and quail eggs. I went farmer's market and this guy has duck and chicken eggs. I was going to buy chicken eggs but question him on duck eggs. He said once to eat duck eggs you will never go back to chicken eggs. So, I bought home a dozen. Next morning, cook them for breakfast and ever since then NEVER go back to chicken egg.
