Ahhh you have one of those attic vents too!!! Yea it’s kinda freaky but so useful when it’s cool out and you open your windows makes a cross breeze effect in your house!

YES. The house fan! We definitely used it far more than we ever expected, we have actually since moved from this house and still think about that house fan. Definitely a bizarre thing, but really quite efficient!

😬 Well we’re not booking flights until January, and we’ve both been vaccinated so we’re hoping for the best! But no matter what happens we’re selling our home, so if the whole world shuts down again we may just have to rent an RV and explore the ole USA! 😁😁

Our suggested cactus name is Cuddles the Cactus 🌵😃 What an amazing home you guys have! We love your sense of style. Did you consider renting it out instead? That's what we have done and it's been a good source of income for funding our travels.

Aw that's cute 😆 I like it, good ole' Cuddles. haha .. We really thought about renting it out, but we needed to find the right renters (someone who is pretty self-sufficient and as flexible as us - only needing it for 2022, but maybe more), pay someone to act as the property manager (to be on-call if we weren't reachable for emergencies), and charge enough to cover our mortgage/ taxes/ repairs. All of this we were willing to do, but then the cost of lumber rose tremendously and the housing prices sky-rocketed! So we decided to sell, knowing that we would be able to make some money off of our investment and not have to deal with any of the other hassle. Property is always a good investment, but home ownership can be stressful and we were intimidated to try being first-time landlords abroad haha

Very very cool... can see craftsmanship runs in Thomas' family. Great job to papa Thomas and Thomas with all the cool stuff you guys built for the home. Great job busting Ruth (can see your artistic pottery prowess at work too!) and all the beautiful touches! Love the natural lighting... I'm sure selling the house is bittersweet, but I know you guys are going to make priceless memories as you begin your next adventure. Congrats!!!!

It certainly was bittersweet! We put a lot of love in that house. But we’re also so excited about this next chapter that it makes it a lot easier to move on. 5 more months living with the parents and then we’re off to see the world!!

Okay! I had never seen the whole house fan before! I didn't know that was a common thing. Makes sense though... Crazy that you can ventilate an entire house in like 3 seconds haha.

Your house is so beautiful! The most exciting thing about this video is that you guys are selling to prepare for travel next year 🤩 SO excited for you guys! Really love all the personal touches you guys added. Can tell where Thomas gets his woodworking skills from, the headboard in the master bedroom is beautiful! 😱 You cactus is massive 😂 you have SO many plants 😍 your kitchen bar and spice cabinet are goals! All the windows make it so much lights inside, love! The back yard looks so lush as well. Definitely sad to say goodbye to your home but excited to follow your travels 😁🌍

Yay I love a house tour video! You guys have great taste in furniture and plants, heh 😀 We're the same with plants, our house is full of them but we struggle to keep them alive except for one of those snake plants, we have one of those too and it's still going strong! I love that Thomas's dad built that headboard, that's really impressive. Love the kitchen bar too, I would always prefer open plan 🙂

I think we might have to do the same thing wherever we end up (if we ever own a house again) -- it's just really nice to be able to see the living room and interact while cooking in the kitchen! We use the bar and kitchen so much that it might have been a deal-breaker if we couldn't bust the hole in the kitchen haha

I think we really didn't know what our style was going to be like until we actually bought the house and tried to embrace it's original aesthetic. While we like the southwest / california-y vibes we played around with a lot of ideas before settling into what we like. Hahaha we actually seriously considered restoring this one really old and ornate victorian home! (pretty glad we didn't 😂)

Your house is so quirky!!! Ahhh that fan thing freaks me out too haha!! I am exactly the same as you when it comes to house plants hahaha..can't get enough of them but they rarely survive hahaha! I (Thomas) told Ruth that the only way I wouldn't be sad about not swimming in our pool anymore is if we are swimming in the ocean this time next year instead - so that's what we're setting out to do! 🤣🤣

Haha that’s the best part! … we don’t really know.. we want to be on the road as long as possible and try to give full-time YouTubing a try so we want to go wherever it’s cheapest. We’ll probably start in Southeast Asia since they have a really low cost of living, or west Africa for the same reason. But at the end of the day, we’re just going to go where we can get the best deals and cheapest flights haha

@@RuthandThomas That's the way to go! Have you ever traveled to Africa or Asia? Also there's an incredible flight finder that I think is super underrated, it's called POMELO TRAVEL. I use it for basically all of my trips. It's an email subscription, but there's a wonderful free plan! Worth checking out if y'all plan to start traveling quite a bit. 🙌

You guys have a beautiful home! Didn't realize you guys had a pool! How fun! Your house is the perfect house for hosting friends and family! Haha. Are you guys gonna keep some of the furniture that Thomas's dad made or are you selling everything?

We’re definitely keeping the bed frame and table, we have some family and friends that want to hold onto and use some of our things for us. But we’ll probably just end up storing it, but otherwise we’re going to sell most everything! The only things we are going to keep are probably the bed frame, table, and a few kitchenware items and keepsakes.. we’re so excited to purge and get rid of everything! Haha #minimalistlife
