In 2007, my dream of a Family Domain began: a natural place to live with my future wife and children. Health. Abundance. Love. And a place that promoted all of that instead of working against it.
It took 12 years. Soon I had a group of people and a lovely wife to share the dream with. But it took a long journey. In the Netherlands on agricultural land? In Poland? In Romania? In Ukraine? In Sweden? In France? In Portugal? In Indonesia? In Belize? In Russia? In America?
We visited many places, and in between we kept coming back to the Netherlands. Every time it got serious, we soon gave up, the reasons I tell you in the video. The Netherlands kept calling us.
To despair and we had more or less given up. Maybe it had to be this way. I had to go back into paid employment, not earning enough to have substantial left over. Only when I left did the penny drop: as a freelancer I could earn the same in 2 days. And if I traveled abroad, I didn't pay taxes either.
Money creation became easier and the mindset and interest around investing and financial freedom were awakened. Major influences were books like Think and Grow Rich, the 4-Hour Workweek and 6 Months to 6 Figures. Developing a whole different side to get a different result.
From there, we still couldn't really believe it, but when we still chose not to wait any longer to get pregnant, there came a final sprint to our family estate. It had to and would be a feasible compromise in the neighborhood. House and garden with as much space as possible. Miraculously, and with help from my mother-in-law, we were finally able to buy this farm. Only later did we expand our land to 5 acres.
Achieving our dream has released so much energy. Brought so incredibly much in a short time. Anyone who comes here regularly is amazed at the developments. First the house, the following year the food forest. Then the paddock paradise. The fire of our AirB&B group accommodation and the pivot we made on that. Further landscaping of our yard. The purchase of 2.5 more acres. The informal care home for my mother.
The released energy and the already abundant food show that it can be done. And we are capable of so much if we feel driven to do so. And also how we let money hold us back. By minimalist thinking.
How glad I am that we persevered. That the dream was strong enough. Pure enough. That we were allowed to find the right mindset shifts about money. The personal development we were allowed to go through. The results are undeniable.
Now is the time of giving back. I hope our story can inspire. That people who want to live in harmony with nature will find solutions to make their dreams come true. Perhaps also by not being disgusted by money creation. Or finding creative solutions in their own way.
Some of you are already abroad. Others already have a beautiful place in the Netherlands. But I know there are also many viewers who can only dream of such a place as we have. Don't underestimate what you can achieve in 10 years! Develop yourself and your mindset and don't be afraid of the change you need to get to where you want to be. If you didn't have to change, you would have reached your goal a long time ago!
