Our Hidden Secret Revealed To Cleaning A Persian & Himalayan Cat or Kitten's Eyes, Ears and Nose
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Today I wanted to let you in on a little know hidden secret to cleaning a Persian and Himalayan kitten or cats eyes, ears and nose. Victoriangdn's Victoriana Gold Laced Primrose is our model. She is a 7 week old Extreme Face Black and White Bi-Color Persian. We found this product a few years ago and love it. It is Thayers Alcohol Free Witch Hazel Unscented with Aloe. It gets out staining and helps keep it at bay. It is an excellent gentle cleaner for those Persian and Himalayan sensitive areas of the eyes, ears and nose. It is best to clean a Persian and Himalayan cat or kittens eyes once a day. We clean their ear area once a week, right after their bath. We use cotton round pads to put the solution on the pad and then clean the eye. You want to turn the pad over to clean the other eye. Use a new pad to clean the ears. You can see more of our "How To" videos on our channel or on our How To KZread Videos page on our website.

Tried this today for the first time. I've been using Kleenex and warm water, and it worked well, I thought. This method removes more stain with fewer "swipes". Thank you, I am grateful for your secret! I'm sure my princess is, too 😸 It's $6.59 at Target, best price in town.
OMG thank you so much!!! This was a great help!! I ordered my bottle and can’t wait to try it on my little one. Thank you again!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge regarding cleaning ears, eyes and face. As you are showing us this, your little munchkins are running riot behind you. They are all so adorable.
Another great idea! I have done your litter box system, and will be doing this also. Love the informative videos. Please keep doing them!! :)
So glad you shared this with us. This will help me me with my lil guy Wynn.
Nice to see you... Can't say enough to praise you. Your work & dedication. To beautiful kitty's!!!
OMG - Victoriana is the cutest kitten EVER. What a little sweetie... so trusting and calm!
Excellent quality stuff
Thank you for this.. I was going to purchase and expensive ey cleaner !! You saved me!!
She is so precious. I worked with a kitten at the shelter who looked like her bicolor sister. Her name was Betty Lou. She had a white spot on her back, and a tear drop on her nose. She passed after her first birthday. When I saw this kitten's sister it warmed my heart. She looked so much like Betty Lou. Maybe Betty would be a cute name for her,if her new parents would like it. I enjoy your videos a lot. I love the Persian breed
So cute! Thank u for educational videos tgers not allot out ther and I have no idea what im doing! And for kitten play videos theyr a great stress day pick up!
Thankyou so much😊
Can you do a video on how you clean and deep clean your cattery and house. Also what you use to keep your home fresh

You are welcome.
This would work well for Devon Rexes too..
Oh my wish I could have one of your kittens sadly I live in Uk.
Hi, thank you for sharing your methods using this system, have you tried using the updated version of this? I'm wondering how it would sit in the bottom litter box. Since it looks to be slightly different in shape.

I do not own the extra large Breeze box, if that is what you are referring to.
Looking for this in the UK, and I can only find this brand as "Facial Toner" - is that the same stuff? The other bits are the same - witch hazel, unscented, alcohol free, with aloe vera...
@weloveourkittens

Sounds the same. Witch Hazel is used as a toner. Just make sure it is alcohol free and unscented.
Target sells this also for $6.99
If you pause at 0:05 the corner of the car tree behind you sticks out making it look like a cat ear
I wish they had this in the uk 🇬🇧

What do you do when you have a kitten who squirms and fights and makes it difficult to do this? My cat hates having his eyes cleaned.

Try wrapping your cat in a towel, like a papous.
Could you send me the name of the product and where to buy from please

@@weloveourkittens She probably meant to type 'powder', I'd assume. Like I've seen persian cat show people use around the eyes. Honestly not sure why but they must have a reason. And your babies are gorgeous, btw!
I adopted a Peke Persian from someone who couldn't take care of her. She is also all white, so her eye dripping is very obvious. We have tried everything to help keep her eyes clean..she has been checked multiple times by a vet & she has no eye infection & a clean bill of health. She has the black eye crust and every time we clean them they don't look any better. I am just at a loss of how to get them clean, & keep them clean. Any insight would be helpful. I don't think I can list the products I've used..ranges from warm water, Ophthalmic solution eye wash, envy cleaner (always using soft cotton rounds), even tried the super soft toothbrush made for grooming persians in the deep folds, & envy powder after, you name it. If I get alot of the black stuff off, the skin underneath is pink and irritated & she will scratch at them. Feel like it's a lose lose situation. I want to help her so bad. So sorry for the longest comment ever. Any tips or thoughts would be so appreciated. Thank you!

The Eye Envy kit does work if you follow the directions correctly, use all the products in the kit and use it every day faithful until the stains are gone. After the stains are gone, you use it once a week, the whole kit. I know because I used it on Delphinium when nothing else would work, but it did. Some Persians are bred with too small of a nose pad, too small of nostrils and a deeply pushed in face. Because of those things, the tearing is permanent because their bone structure is permanent. You just have to be consistent with the Eye Envy. This is what the breeders did to the Persian and Himalayan breed when back in the early 1980s when they went from the doll face to the extreme face ... they messed with nature. CFA will not even allow a doll face Persian or Himalayan to be shown in CFA shows since it no longer meets their breed standard.

@@weloveourkittens Thanks so much for your response. Can the Thayers replace the eye envy liquid part?

Also, do you mean the shampoo as well. We just have the kit with pads+liquid+powder.

Eye Envy also contains ingredients which helps with infections in the eye which is why you may have some staining. Look on the back for the ingredient lists for Eye Envy and you will see it. I would not replace Thayers with the Eye Envy Kit.
Ok, I'm going to try witch hazel. My persian kitten has constant itchy eyes...I've been using bausch and lomb sensitive eye solution but it's not working...

Pull up the eye lids and see if it is red or bright pink. If so, you cats eyes have an infection and will need to go to the Vet for treatment.

@@weloveourkittens the Vet prescibed Terramycin when my Emily had "red eye". The Opthalmologist found her left eye didn't even have a lower puncta in her tear duct. The same Opthalmologist at first suggested she could correct it with surgery, then backed out over fears it might leave Emily with a permanent squint.

Try wrapping the kitten in a papoose with the arms inside the papouse.

I would recommend the original blue Dawn diluted down to 10%. 90% water and 10% Dawn. Dawn cuts the grease and also is good at cleaning the coat. It is the #1 shampoo I now use on my cats. Hope this helps.

VICTORIAN GARDENS CATTERY does Dawn work for kittens as well?
do you have any thoughts on cat wipes? i have two himalayans that i just adopted, they were in pretty bad condition when they came home. they both have serious tear stains. i’ve tried many times to wrap them in a towel and put them up on the counter but they HATE IT. and then they hide out for the rest of the day. I have found tho that if i use a wipe and wipe their backs first, they’ll let me get near their nose for a few seconds. I’ve seen that some people are against tear stain wipes but i’m not sure why and i can’t find anything about dander wipes. They advertise as safe for the face but i still worry

Zoe Barr I really don't have any experience with dander wipes since I will bathe my cats if needed. Right now, since you just adopted them, I would not cause any undo stress to them. They do not trust humans at this point. Instead, spend your time loving them and bonding to them. If they have severe eye staining, they probably have the Herpes virus or an infection. If you pull up on the top eye lid and see red, please take them to the Vet immediately so they can be checked and treated. That is the best advise I can offer you. Clear up what is causing the severe staining and love on those babies. You don't know what they have been through. Leave grooming until you have a bond with them. At that time, you may choose to get them shaved and start fresh with grooming them as their coat comes in and daily cleaning their eye area. For now, please just earn their trust and do not cause them any more trauma than what they already went through prior to you. My second best advise, walk in their paws and feel what they must have felt like or been through over the last 6 months. It is called empathy. Then you will know how to proceed. The very best to you and your new Himis.

VICTORIAN GARDENS CATTERY Thank you! i had a lot of initial worry bc of all the things i’ve read on how often you’re supposed to upkeep and seeing how little the previous owners did, but this makes me feel a lot more safe! They don’t appear infected, just as if they’ve gone way too long w/o any human help. We’re getting so close and i can already tell they’re getting more comfortable, i’m glad to know that’s the most important thing. thanks so much for the advice 💛
