    Random tip incoming if your avocado isnt ripe cover with a towel and put it ontop the microwave or stove after you are done cooking for the day but not after you just cooked you might start a fire. The left over heat in the air will help it speed up the process of ripening. It will probably be ripe the next day or the next night ❤ something my parents taught me this week cuz I so happen to to find their avocados 😂

    Another trick is to put it in a shoebox or other small cardboard box on the counter fir a day. I discovered this by accident when I was trying to keep the avocado away from something else on the counter and had a small box that an ornament had come in. I was amazed.

    @@rakshitajpatel9550 thanks for asking! I was actually thinking about doing a series on different foods and how to introduce them. But my advice would be to try. I know that it can be scary - If you are worried about choking, I’d know the signs and first aid, but gagging is normal and actually a good sign b/c it’s baby’s reflexes keeping them from choking. A good rule of thumb for food is to cook it until it’s soft enough you can pinch it between your fingers and many things can be cut to about the size of your pinky (like sweet potato, zucchini, squash, avocado)

    @@wildflowersandwonderment it would be so helpful if you did series of videos! I actually tried giving him broccoli and he did well with it. He actually enjoyed it! I was so scared but you are right. I need to educate myself with chocking signs and get cpr classes just in case. Thank you so much! I will be in look out for your videos. Xx

    Honestly it’s very hard but always start off small !!mines is 6 months and started him off with rice and scrambled eggs,just start with meals easy and small to consume like this and only give them a little at a time they eventually will learn to chew and swallow on their own.I also cut half a steak and let him go to town on it !lol he loves it,but stuff like that is tender ya know they can’t chew off pieces of meat like steak so he just sucks on it and slowly eats away at it lol (purée foods are also great!)

    Such a normal fear!! I did a cpr class and brushed up on it with a couple videos just before. Plus I was told by an ot that babies who learn to eat solids are actually less likely to choke as they get a little older because they are more used to it. They definitely gag a bit when eating solids young - it’s different from choking but can also seem a bit scary at first

    Sorry first time mum here, how much do you start with? Do you just offer one food like banana, egg etc and then just see if they manage to eat it? How often do you offer them food? What if they just mess with it, should you feed them it yourself? Also, what if they take a big bite of it and take a lot in their mouth, how do I know they won't choke on it? My son is 4 months soon, just wondering for when the time comes

  • @wildflowersandwonderment

    @wildflowersandwonderment

    So we start with one new food at a time. It’s to ensure baby doesn’t have an allergic reaction. I personally don’t feed it to them. If they just mess with it it’s no big deal because it’s still offering them a great sensory experience. They have a chance to smell it and touch it. Some babies want to dive right in and eat some want to explore a little more first. I think either way is great!

  • @wildflowersandwonderment

    @wildflowersandwonderment

    8 ай бұрын

    Oh I forgot to mention as far as choking, there is always a risk no matter how you choose to feed. Definitely do your research on the signs. I am CPR certified and so are my husband and my oldest so I felt okay with it. Check out some websites and videos on what to do in case of choking. One great thing to note is that babies who do BLW are less likely to choke when they are older.

    I would not recommend starting your baby off with his first food being something sweet like bananas, are sweet potatoes. This will teach their pallet to not be as excepting to non-sweet foods. Imagine eating a candy bar for your first meal. Everything else isn’t gonna taste as good.

    I cannot see how this is true. Breast milk is sweet anyways, especially after mom has a dessert. Now I wouldn’t say give your baby cake - but sweet potatoes and fruits are super healthy for babies.. like you know banana and sweet potato purées? Very popular.

    I’ve heard that before but I’ve also heard that formula and breast milk are so sweet that it kind of negates that. I wanted to give him avocado. It didn’t work out but to this day Brussels sprouts are one of his favorites. But do whatever makes you feel comfortable ❤️

    50 years ago we didn’t have the notion of baby led weaning. Food had nothing to do with weaning. A high chair at the dinner table was all we needed. Try corn on the cob. Or a pork rib. A broccoli stalk. Anything with a good handle. I loved the idea above of a large piece of steak to gnaw on.
