I have been watching these wonderful videos since you first released them. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to Lord Cannon! The videos are helpful in an opposite way too: Vizsla's are not for everyone, even though they are adorable and marvelous dogs. So many owners don't have the time, the patience, or the energy for such a rambunctious breed. You guys are amazing!

Our girl was an absolute terror as a puppy, she had so much energy but never wanted to just lay down and sleep so she got the overly tired energy and then would absolutely crash. 9 years later she's absolutely settled in and learned when it's time to just sleep. Took her a few years to even just lay down when we were all sittin around watching TV or what have you.

I found the crate to be essential. We got Kaiah last week and so far she's doing surprisingly well. She went in there by herself the first day. Shocker. She settles really fast even if she's not entirely sleepy. The best thing we did was making a schedule for her. They need structure. She goes to sleep at 7pm. We wake her for potty break at 22:30pm. After that straight back to sleep. She wakes at 6:30. I can live with that. Hopefully your pup will get used to the crate soon. All the best. Happy New year.

Puppies explore with their mouths, and if he hasn’t learned bite inhibition with his litter mates/or if he has been taken from mum too early then you can resolve biting through clicker training if the dog is food orientated. Hope time has improved things for you. Using a calming spray such as “pet remedy” or “adaptil” on his bedding can help also.

@@louiseanderson4625 I’ve watched a few positive trainers who feed their dogs in their crates as well as the breeder from whom my cousin purchased her Great Dane. Granted I have a full sized crate with a crate divider that I can take out so it’s a much larger space. I think it all comes down to preference for you and for the dog. And after getting my puppy, turns out she prefers to eat in there since it’s her “safe space.” 🙂

Vizslas cannot be left alone. They’re VERY social dogs, and extremely prone to separation anxiety! Especially as puppies, it’s important you don’t leave them alone for hours on end. If you need to crate him at night I’d strongly recommend having him sleep in the bedroom with you. The maximum they can be left alone is 6 hours and that takes a whoooole lot of working up to.

Do you let him out to pee or just wait, and the crane is in the same place where you sleep? Also, our puppy just started to bite us on the 2nd week after being with us. We will try the playpen. thanks again!!

  • @LordCannonTheVizsla

He is now sleeping 11-5:30am in the crate. When he was waking at 2am, I would take him out to pee without any attention and put him straight back in the crate. If he woke up crying quite soon after he had been to the toilet I didn’t take him out again, I just tried to settle him by talking calmly. The crate is downstairs, we were close to taking it upstairs! But we slept downstairs next to him for nearly two weeks then we started sleeping upstairs again. The biting is much better, sleeping in the day makes a big difference, as when he was tired it was worse. When he is going crazy, we put him in the playpen, give him a lick mat or a few treats and when he calms down and we let him back out again. Hope that helps! Will put up another video later and I will include the crate set up. 😊

Have any of your Vizsla's figured out how to open doors our eight month old visual lab has been opening doors all the time she's basically mastered it. We ended up putting child locks on our doors to keep her out. Do any of y'all know how to get your dog out of the habit of opening doors.

I love your new lil Vizsla sweetie!! We have a 2 yr old female Vizsla, our Greta. We had great success using this stuffed puppy dog with real-like beating heart sound. It comforted her to sleep at night in her crate as if her momma was still there with her. **See the Snuggle Puppy Amazon link below: www.amazon.com/puppy-heartbeat-stuffed-animal/s?k=puppy+heartbeat+stuffed+animal And we did cover the crate with blankets to make her feel cozy. Pleased to say we get our 2nd Vizsla girl this summer!!! We love Vizslas so much!!

Crating is propper. They prefer dens for shelter and comfort. Its only cruel if you use it like jail/punishment. He will love his crate and eventually you will be able to just leave the door open and he will come and go. He will prefer to sleep with you if you allow him to do so. If you are not wanting him in your bed, DONT let that get started !!

I’m a dog trainer you have to remember he’s a dog not a baby your first mistake was staying down stairs with him on day one! he should off been crated that night and sorry to left to cry you should never come down to check as hard as that is ! he’s safe , he’s not going to come to any harm , you are the boss not your dog , they also need to know who is the pack leader! if he bites turn away from him no attention, ignore the screams and only give attention when he’s quiet as cute as he his don’t let this breed get the upper hand other wise you will have a grown up dog that you will not be able to control , start as soon as you can to crate at night and leave him till morning he will get used to it , after a while he will know no matter how long he howls no one is comeing and will slowly stop

Guys, ask for professional help. Or subscribe for online course. A puppy needs a structure and consistency. You should train it to love being in the crate. All the training happens by luring with food. Also put it on a leash even inside. Don't give it too much freedom. This is a big mistake. Feed him from your hand. When it bites you, correct it. Show it what you expect from him and what you don't. It's a long conversation, better search for trainer. It is important time now.

Totally agree! the mistake with theses dogs because ! there , so adorable looking ! We melt ! they get treated like a babys and believe me , they will lap it up ! it’s a dog ! they need structure , and too know there place, with in the family , that’s the lowest off the pack they don’t mind that ! when they learn there place ! There happy to be there , what they do mind is one minute they get to sleep in your room, the next there not ... from day one , when you bring them home, crate them at night , that’s there bed room your bedroom is yours , yes they will howl and cause a fuss, but it will be a few nights , they know then after a couple off nights it’s ok , no one is comeing , to fuss me ! till the morning , so I will shut up every time ,you run to them they know they have won, they are safe in there crate ,they don’t need feeding or changing like a new born ,like a baby ! Babies , that you leave in a cot, to cry yes that’s cruel , theses are dogs , they don’t need that , yes , pay attention to them as much as you want in the day time hours, but bed is bed , this way you will have a happy family and happy dog . can’t be left for more then 6 hours I’ve heard some say, is rubbish those dogs you own have been treated like babies , any breed would be the same , every dog breed would love you to lie next to it’s side 24 - 7 if you let it happen , but we don’t and we can’t , so training is so important and at the earliest, at the cute adorable puppy stage the stage that is hard for us to hear them cry , it’s the owners fault that there dog is demanding, not the dogs they just need consistency and structure and rules given by us , sorry if I sound abrupt but this is what I do , also my nan now not here sadly used to train police dogs and Labradors for the blind ! So been doing this growing up since a child ! 40 years ,

wow you bought so many unnecessary things in just two weeks. You only needed to warn him firmly and distract him by giving him small tasks and rewarding him when he is a good boy. Don't be sad about being firm and warning him. that's how puppies learn in their litter too. they need to know when they are doing something wrong

LOL. Do people do any research before they get a Viszla? If you don’t have a place to exercise a Viszla-I mean run,and run and run and run on a daily basis-please consider another breed. Most of the behavior problems with a Viszla are lack of quality exercise.
