He made a correction in an interview with LL cool J that it wasn't an attempted suicide, just an overdose. But yeah, the original Rock Bottom sounds way different where you can hear the pain.

He sounds like AZ in this song. While Em has transcended past most, in this song, he is doing what Nas or AZ would easily do to this beat. Saying “nobody” is a stretch but Em is one of the nicest by far.

This song would smash everyone if it came out today, let alone 1996. I'm 51 and I remember the first time I heard this song. I describe the first time I hearing it like this: it's like getting jumped by two people, and one of them is beating the sh*t out of you while the other one is tickling you. The funny thing is that, in 1996, this record was slept on HARD. Jay-Z's first album, Reasonable Doubt (a masterpiece) also came out in 1996, also slept on. I was one of the people who requested this so I really appreciate y'all reacting to it.

This album wasn't heard until after he was famous. I was 6 in 88' when I started listening to hip hop so I can't make a Top 5 or 50 even but Eminem has to be in the the top five on anyone's list.
