The best thing we did is to make sure everything was neat, had a storage place and in its place. Doing that meant the people could find material and equipment quickly and efficiently without walking around stuff, or climbing over stuff. But the best was because things were tidy, the chemicals were stored as per required, the empties were kept in an area for cleaning and then disposal on a regular basis including things like lids, lid rings. nothing but nothing was left on the ground. This also went for tools and equipment, on Fridays just before knock off, we would cleaning things down, putting things away, shelving and tidying, which was not only for safety but for mental fitness as well, as you knew on Monday you were coming into somewhere clean to work for the week. The thing was that it was cheap and easy, just needed the will power to do on a regular basis.

Well done for the courage to show that. I would love to see the rest of the walk around. We've just done a major upgrade on our woodshed and yards and I agree about the lunchroom with hot and cold water. We use it all the time when the accountant, agronomist, insurance lady or banker call in or just a cuppa and a chat with a mate or when the neighbours visit.

I so agree you cant ask the lady bank manager to go find a bush. Why would you ask people who have worked hard in dirty, dusty, grimy conditions, to drive home in their filthy clothes that may have chemical residue or animal excrement. A place to wash up and change your clothing sounds like a great idea.

Safety can cost a farmer more than it can afford ............safety number one farmers teach kids safety from day dot ....on construction sites there's individual jobs to many to list ,the farmers doing it all . Safety is carried out and lots of ongoing costs becomes expensive .Farmers need more compensation to provide, fire extinguisher have a expired date $$$$, stocking first aid $$$$, setting up lunch room $$$$$$$, maintenance to farm equipment $$$$$$$$$$$......$$$$$$. when kids will know wright from wrong on farms

A number of farmers around our district have have been injured with PTO shafts. So don't ever say it won't happen to me.
