Small loan of a million dollars. Although, since owning a small business is kinda like buying yourself a job with lots of overtime, the laundromat is more of a nepotistic job offer with lots of strings attached than a huge gift. Like, if you actually owned the laundromat / arcade, you'd have to use a bank as a safety buffer instead of daddymoney. But if you improved the business and added a lot of value, it's the owner who gets that value.

And it was made by Gen Urobuchi, who also wrote the scripts for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Kamen Rider Gaim, and other works. One of his standard MOs is to take a light-hearted concept like magical girls (Madoka) or fruit samurai (Gaim)... and make it f*cking grim and twisted. Addendum: I've also seen others in the comments suggest the 'Resurrection' section of the forever unfinished Phoenix manga. After looking into it... yeah, turns out that Arin wasn't misremembering and that's what he was referring to. Still, it's a neat concept that isn't played around with enough. As to longevity, one thing that helps is that when you play a cabinet, it becomes more popular and generates more revenue (this helps with buying more cabinets). Another thing that helps longevity is that people will challenge you to beat their high scores on certain cabinets. At the point I am right now, I rarely do any of the laundry stuff. Man, my brain can't comprehend the concept if paying someone else to do your laundry, which is what this game looks like. I grew up going to laundromats because we didn't have the utilities. I learned how to do it on my own by helping my grandma do up to ten loads of clothes. When I went back to one of the places I had grown up going to when I didn't have a washer and dryer to use, I was extremely shocked that it had become a "washing ladies." Women were washing other people's clothes. And I just... could not figure it out.

I have worked in a Arcade. 🤣 It can be fun and boring at times. Giving the gifts to kids and adults a like. Watching some regulars that have the most insane skills at getting tickets or beat games with style or just beat games on a single credit. is entertaining to watch. There was a funny time that a guy and his girlfriend bought chips from the snack machine but they got stuck. The buff boyfriend guy tried hard to movie the machine but couldn't get it to drop. I at the time was not a very strong looking guy. I placed my hand on the top of the machine and pushed it up and let it drop (not to hard) letting the chips drop loose. The guy looked embarrassed and explained he could have done that. His girlfriend was giggling at how embarrassed he was. Cute couple. There are more stories. Good times. 😂

Later on you get a side scrolling beat em up which has a pixel art laundromat in it which you can go into, with a little arcade and playable games... Game in a game in a game

Some tips: Wait for 3 laundry baskets to appear before doing any, then do them all at once. It’s best to start your last baskets of laundry at 18:00 (3 min wash, 3 mins drying) Empty your hoppers after 23:00 only (unless they’re full) I’m not sure what PC controls are but you can play the cabinets I think by pressing “E”. Each cabinet has Goals, complete as many as you can, the cabinet will earn more $$$ money as a result. (Use to buy more cabinets) You have “To do” tasks on your PDA, complete them for £££, this currency is used for permanent upgrades such as sprinting from the PC in your office ( I recommend saving for the Assistant Assistant manager to auto empty out hoppers, this will save A LOT of time when you have a full Arcade). Trash spawns at the start of the work day, clean first while you wait for 3 laundry baskets to appear.

The dates in this game say it's set in 1993 but if you were there, you know the 80s bled over into the 90s for a little bit so it's pretty accurate. The first 3 years of any decade is usually still like the previous, it's about the half-way mark where the things that define it to future observers start to crop up.

I swear Arin really needs to start doing like 5 to 10 minutes prep work to figure out the controls and what you're supposed to do in a game before they start the episode because so often it feels like the majority of an episode is spent just working out how to play the game, sometimes he doesn't even figure it out before he stops playing, it's probably also why people always claim arin is bad at video games because his approach seem to be "I'll figure the game out on the air, while I have split focus"
