Very nice video... well done! Cotacachi has been on my list for several years. Need to get down there. I am an American who has lived and worked for many years in Mexico. My Spanish is excellent. I have worked as a horseback riding guide, and also have built homes in Mexico --- running my own hand-picked crew, and speaking Spanish the whole way. What I am inferring: is that I can easily fit in, and have a lot to offer as well. Also: not a kid, or any kind of novice. Currently living in Tucson, Arizona... still have horses, ride quite a bit, and really get out there when I can. Also am an artist, very creative, and always working on various projects. I have built a custom house for an ExPat just outside of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajato, Mexico. Favor de escribirme si hay algo suregirme... cerca de oportundidades o lugares alla en Cotacachi. Beautiful place! We were there in February and it seemed kind of hard to park in the town proper. How close are you to the square? Can you walk to town?

We walk into town a lot but we have a vehicle and usually have no problem parking within a block or two of destination. We like walking cultures and end up doing 2 or 3 miles most days.

It was 189k to buy but probably have 250k in it at this point, remodeling and additions outside, a bodega, pergola, wall and gardens.

How is the yearly weather there. It looks good on paper, but what is the real deal. Will those beautiful flowers bloom year round, or is there a period of "winter" with dead ugliness. And what about rain and flooding? I have always planned to retire to the beach, Manta. But lately, I've been thinking hard about Cotacachi. I'm not crazy for cool weather, but it looks so peaceful and like home. I'm torn and still looking for info. Thanks for any input you can offer. Sam

Most places come furnished but we had new furniture built to order from pictures on Pinterest. It’s very inexpensive to have local craftsmen build what you want.

Seems tranquil and very safe. Altitude is a problem for people unwilling to abide by the basic rule of thumb that it takes about one month for every additional 1,000 feet of altitude to adjust. Even though I was living for years at 6,000 ft it took me almost 3 months to feel normal here. Body has to build more red blood cells and no matter what they say, that can’t happen in 3 days.

The styles in our 32 house neighborhood vary somewhat but some are much like ours. There are often one or two for sale.

It is beautiful but not a cottage, a cottage is generally under 1000 square feet of living space which I think you way exceed. You have a house. Beautiful though..

We retired to Ecuador 7 years ago. We don't particularly like cities or Gringo gated communities so we choose to live closer to the jungle were you can tell your in Ecuador and not some were that looks like any Florida gated community.

that's BEAUTIFUL !!! I have heard many stories about American retirees coming up missing in Ecuador, don't think I would live there, also was informed that the water was dangerous to even shower in, much less drink......NO THANKS !!!
