If you click on the little picture of the arrow towers during a siege defence, you can use flame shot twice per tower by clicking the fire arrow button that appears. This rips through enemy morale. You can also choose which enemy the tower targets. Keep up the great work! Love the videos!

My gaming laptop broke and I had over 500 hours in shogun so it’s awesome watching you play, it’s really interesting see you make decisions that I wouldn’t make. Also just so you know alliances and allies are nothing in this game, at the beginning don’t worry about imperial vs shogunate, it’s everyone for themselves until you have to make the decision on which faction to join or start your own regime. You’ll get a prompt on your screen asking you this not too sure what year exactly but eventually you can ally with the other shogunate factions.

Good to see you implementing advice into your gameplay Your fights look so much better already Been a massive fan for ages and remember coming back from school everyday to see is you had released a video to watch Also another minor tip: Loose formation is so useful - It prevents loses from cannons (later in campaign) and gunpowder - Like in the first battle, right at the start you lost 50 katana inf bc of collateral damage - It also allows your gun powder infantry to retreat better as they won't get stuck hit the spear men as they retreat back which can be really annoying bc they go into melee mode if even 1 man in that unit is caught

Of course I prefer the more classic total wars but the 'Loot' income you get in Warhammer after a victory is very useful for helping you dig your way out of these desperate defence situations. Wouldn't really match in with Shogun 2 but would leave us in a better spot after each massive defence of Fukushima.

loving the series! Highly recommend using the ambush mechanic by placing your armies in the forest. The deployment is insane and it makes for some really fun and cinematic battles, and also is a huge help for winning battles against bigger/stronger armies :D

Yo Apollo, great video as always, little tip, before disbanding a unit if other units of the same type are replenishing just drag the unit you want to disband over the unit replenishing and it’ll fill it up, then you can disband, a few more men in a unit to aid replenishment is quite useful

Hello matey, great videos! just a tip, if you notice the grey lines on your cities flags, they are garrisoned troops. if you fill your fort with your own, they won’t appear in the battle. the reason enemies from the other side of japan are declaring war on you is a number of reasons, the main ones will be, they want to raid your trade routes which appear as gold lines over the water, and because your are aligned to the shotgun and they are imperial. your economy is your main focus after defence. but you can’t have defence without economy, you need to focus on the economy by taking other cities particularly ones with rare resources like gold, copper and coal for example. these will increase your attractiveness to trade with other factions, even imperialistic ones so they will want to make peace to give you a chance to build yourself up militarily. you also need to concentrate a bit more on your navy. it will stop them attacking your ports, which is the biggest form on trade income you can get as it allows you to trade with factions on the other side of the map, and not just those next to your provinces. also if you have a battle near the sea, and there is a fleet near by, you can call in navel bombardment, which if times right, can devastate an enemy army or city defences like wall, gates and troops. on that note, when you do attack a city, be mindful that your troops of scaling a wall, some will fall off and die, you can lose like 10% to 20% of troops that way. the only troops this doesn’t happen with is ninjas. love to see you playing this game as i have been playing it since it came out and still go back to it as it’s one of the best total wars if you ask me, but i mainly play fall of the Samurai expansion pack. better navel battles, which are done so well in that pack. anyway, keep up the good work bro! love your content.

As much as I’m excited for Manor Lord, I really hope this series continues in force still =)

I know you don't want to play modded campagins but there are 2 purely visual mods that you might be interested in. One mod called BSM (Blood Smoke mod) reworks the way Smoke and blood looks in the game. With the gunpowder focused battles in Fots you might be interested in giving it a shot. It's not on the workshop, you download it you need to look it up online and place the file in your data folder and it will automatically work in your game without needing to turn it on. The other mod is called Coloured Morale & Fatigue text and it adds better clarity for the morale status of units like: Green when morale is high, red when about to rout. The mod is on the workshop.

This campaign is the best please make more of this when I get a pc I will download this keep it up Apollo!

I really enjoy your content bro I may be a new subscriber but you play all the games I like so it’s cool to see how other people play the game

I noticed at the end, you could have finished off that army by sending out a few units from your city. If I have an army that can't reach a depleted enemy army that had a few surviving units on the map after battle, I look to see if I have any garrisoned units in a nearby settlement that I can quickly sally out to finish the deal, then immediately retreat them back into the settlement. Even if they can't get back to the city immediately, it's okay because they don't revolt until after a complete turn of being unhappy.

If you have rifles during a siege once they start climbing the wall step back you rifles off the wall so once the enemy climbs the wall they get shot immediately. But that is only if a couple units climb one or two walls otherwise you will get overran.

I would like to return to my family's farm, but the enemy soldiers have burned it, and slaughtered many innocents. Our glorious Daimyo, Pixelated Apollo of the Aizu is leading us against a flood of hostile clans from both North and South. My powder runs low, and my feet grow weary, but I know that only death awaits me and my brothers if the enemy breaches the wall of our castle so I fight on. Over campfires, I hear some commanders talk of seppuku, saying that they will not dishonor the daimyo by falling into enemy hands. Nevertheless, despite these hardships, we welcome the cherry blossoms of the new spring as a sign that we are still hear and our castle has not fallen. Our belief in our Daimyo remains unshaken. Glory to the Aizu!

It's so counter intuitive if you've played a lot of Napoleon or Empire you think your line infantry are some of your best troops but on Shogun while they have guns their melee defense is weak. I couldn't understand why you were pulling them back from the wall until I experienced it playing the game and then I got it. The second battle was a thing of beauty. You almost completely surround them and the flanking manuers were great. Enjoyed all the battles immensely. Two quick tips 1st watch out on non defensive battles they try to sneak cavalry units behind your lines and attack your general and when it happens a rear charge routs your force. 2nd watch for the invasion force as they are typically on a single ship and even a frigate and a couple of gunboats can sink them and destroy the invasion force.

Hey apollo some tips for the next play through, shogun 2 ai is extremely aggressive to the point of stupidity, if you decide to turtle up or spend time building a full stack army at the beginning of the game your gonna get jumped by the entire map Also some factions are hardcoded to attack you if you take certain territorys even if their your ally.

You should leave the geisha in your settlement to help with economic growth.

The best defense is a good offense! Go out and conquer, you’ll never have solid income until you have 10+ built up settlements If you can’t beat it send it to Legend of TW to save. That would be awesome to see!

Hold shift and hold up to move up your formation while maintaining the same lines

So a tactic if only recently started using is L A Y E R S. No i dont mean like waves of troops, i mean with the gunners, if you can give em a good angle, you can have multiple units shoot at the same thing. One behind the other. Normally gun units cant shoot over the people in the front line, but if they are either on a hill shooting down or shooting up at a castle wall, you can have up to 5 units in a column all shooting at the same target while only the front unit takes punishment for it. This is mostly usefull for levy units cause the mass fire makes up for the poor accuracy and reload rate. This is how won a battle against a full stack with lots of yari ki and all i had was 8 units of white tiger force. I found a hill and stacked em up on it with units behind units at an angle and they actually fired enough to route the cav. Same thing goes for attacking a wall. If you send em in a column then you have 3 levys shooting at a wall while the wall levys only attack the front unit.
