THIS 💎 !!! As a African American, I don't understand the language yet my soul still feels peaceful at HOME whenever I hear this !! THANK YOU so much Oumou Sangaré for blessing us with such vibrant, beautiful beats & melodies from the mother land... yassss ! stay blessed Queen 🖤 !!!

"Fantan Ni Mönè" literally means "Fatherless and Pain/Deep Sorrow (*Mönè is untranslatable in Western languages*)". The song is about the suffering of being poor and the harshness of the day-to-day life. But Oumou Sangaré reminds us in the song that God is great and that one day He will put an end to our sufferings.

All his songs are about wisdom, humanism, love between people. Here she talks about poverty. The poor are unhappy. He has desires but cannot afford it for lack of means. You poor people be strong and hold on. All in one end, even Oumou Sangare whom you are listening to is called to be silent forever one day. No one is eternal. just a quick summary.

She is singing in Bambara (Bamanankan) language from Mali, West Africa. The song is about poverty and the things poor people cannot afford. There are other themes like giving birth, daily struggles, performing arts, her world tour from an impoverished neighborhood to big music scenes around the world, etc. But she also reminds us all of these are not eternal. Either disease, aging or death is going to end everything we are doing here.
