i was disappointed by this maleficent. not only did she had less screentime she was presented weaker than other magic users. maleficent should not have been nerfed even for the plot.

I love how the mistress of all evil is afraid of the curse it tells use that if a woman who’s name means evil fears it it must be powerful.

She looked too much like a Stevie Nicks version. It wasn't until years later and the popularity of the live action Maleficient did the writers return Mal to her iconic form. Lucky for us, the actress was able to return and reprise her role!

With what we know of the curse and their history. I think Maleficent was holding back against Regina aware of their past and how Regina helped her rise up to take revenge on Briar Rose and her husband by going after Aurora. Also it’s interesting how Maleficent wanted Regina to tell her about Regina getting the curse

Especially when Maleficent, Cruella and Ursela stole the curse for Rumple..we later find it wasn't even his! Thought in the first season, we're led to believe that Rumple would spend decades crafting the curse in order to get to Bae. And it was the Blue Fairy that tripped up and revealed that the only way to get to the Land Without Magic was through the Dark Curse. And then we find later he never owned it, however, that all was retro fitting. At this stage (before all the add ons), Maleficent was weakened and REGINA ALREADY HAD the dark curse (why was she in possession of it?) but traded it for the sleeping curse (which doesn't really make sense.. why trade a bomb for a sparkler?). Then the writers tripped up with the poisoned apple. Why would she need the apple if she had the sleeping curse from Maleficent? And why would Maleficent ask about from whom she got the curse if SHE was the one who got it for Rumple? She would have already known. And then we find out that it wasn't Rumple who made it but his Mommy.. the dark fairy. At this point, this iteration of Maleficent looks more like Stevie Nicks than the Maleficent we know. It wasn't until the Disney live action movie "Maleficent" that the writers of OUAT had to revamp their version of Maleficent and return her to her iconic garb and to expand the story that she had a biological daughter. Had the live action film never happened I don't think the writers would have gone the route they did, but that version of Maleficent was bad-ass.. especially when she tried to get Snow to help her defeat Regina, which the Chumpings (who had a whole YEAR to do so) failed to do and so "put her daughter in a box and shipped her Maine" as Regina stated to Chumping.

it wont even be a match. maleficent could not even beat cruella whose magic can only make a "dog roll over and beg" (regina). even then maleficent got tricked by the evil queen and david. she had many L's in this series.

I like this scene but as if the Evil Queen would beat Maleficent? In Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent claims to be "The Mistress of all Evil." Man! Maleficent is so damn cool! But don't get me wrong, I love the Evil Queen! She is probably the best character!

IKR mal would have been in a dragon the moment Regina trapped her with the chandelier but I mean I get it, the budget was low until later

Regina can just as good as Zeleena or any other except rumple, if she let her self. That's what rumple said. Cora never thought her because rumple needed cora gone. Plus her sole purpose was cast the curse, so rumple didn't teach her much. Got too caught up with revenge and not enough practice. But she is very powerful. She needs to believe. Season 5 seems promising of her and her sister

I wish Ouat instead of using zelena as the next villain used Maleficent. I think they made her character so boring. I mean this bitch tried killing everybody because she wasn't invited to a damn birthday party. She should be more interesting. It also would have made more sense to make her a villain I mean she locked in a dudgeon for 28 years and everyone is always trying to kill her when ever we see her. Besides she is a badass dragon. Her character had so much potential.

I'm with you on that! I was disappointed we haven't seen much of Maleficent in OUAT considering she is Disney's most iconic villain. I think the reason why Maleficent wasn't in OUAT that much b/c the actress was busy filming True Blood. I honestly think they picked the wrong actress to play Maleficent.

***** I have actually been watching the current season & I was thrilled Maleficent came back.

So first the curse was grabbed by Maleficent, Ursula, and Cruella. Then it was taken by Rumplestiltskin. Then we can assume at some point he gave it to Regina. Then she traded it for the sleeping curse. Then she stole it back from Maleficent.

LOL i love maleficent in this part XD shes so awesome shes just like my friend Sarah XD

i dont understand how maleficent didnt knew who gave Regina the curse if the queens of darkness and rumple were the one who went and got it.

Plot-holes basically. This show ( writer really) love curses. and is full of plot-holes. When they run out of ideas they take one random moment and make a plot out of it and then change idea in the middle and get stuck in a one way road. This is once upon a time, to make sense out of it you need to twist, burn and ignore canon text and subtext.

OUAT somehow ruins Disney. Maleficent is Disney's greatest villain while the Evil Queen isn't, which means that Maleficent is so far more powerful than the EQ. But OUAT makes Regina so strong, her magic here isn't the same as the 1939 EQ's.

They’re not meant to be the same as the animated versions. They’re their own thing. Just think about beauty and the beast. Rumple is nothing like the beast out of the animated classic

Regina is more powerful with the dark one but the savior is much more powerful then both or them well that's my opinion and Lana is much more of a badass then Kristen

Zelena is only stronger than Regina because of her pendant. Glinda said that the pendant would strengthen her magic, so of course she's more powerful than Regina. And Zelena can extinguish the fireball because she learned from Rumple also, so she knew how to beat Regina. As for Maleficent, she is powerful, but Regina is one of the strongest magic practitioners in the show other than Zelena, Rumple and Emma.

It`s true, it is worth remembering that when the regina faced zelena she was not "the evil queen," rumple says that "magic is emotion," and how much more powerful more hatred anger will be your black magic, just regina no longer had those feelings more Zelena had. What I say zelena Would not it be more powerful than the evil queen

+Godaime Tsunade Senju One of the strongest magic practitioners? darling. she has literarly never won a single magic fight. she only defeated Maleficent here because Maleficent wasn't at full power and her pet, and she " defeated " Cora using a sneak attack. she's weak AF to the point any other magic wielding character could knock her out with a single hit. and no, her " light magic defeating Zelena " doesn't counts , since that was pure randomness and she has no clue on how to use it.

vincze samuel Oh darling, you obviously don't read what the creators say. Regina is very powerful, said even by Rumple himself. And in case you didn't catch the newest episode, Regina healed that horse, and healing is light magic. And no, Regina is stronger than Maleficent. And actually her magic defeating Zelena does count. She fulfilled Glinda's words. Regina has proven her strength time and again. Obviously you don't pay attention.
