Otto cycle (Constant volume cycle) explained in tamil Thermal engineering

OTTO CYCLE
This engine was discovered by otto.
It works under four stroke principle.
It has two adiabatic and two constant volume process.
In this engine heat addition and heat rejection is conducted at a constant volume process.
So that it is called as constant volume cycle.
1 - 2 Process (Adiabatic compression)
2 - 3 Process (Constant volume heat addition)
3 - 4 Process (Adiabatic expansion)
4 - 1 Process (Constant volume heat rejection)
Total cylinder volume = V1 = VC + VS
Clearance volume VC = V2
Stroke volume VS = V1-V2 = V4 - V3
Compression ratio
Total cylinder volume = V1 = VC + VS
Clearance volume VC = V2
Stroke volume VS = V1-V2 = V4 - V3
Compression ratio (r) = (Total cylinder 𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑚𝑒)/(Clearance volume)
ɳ= "V1" /"V2 "
ɳ= "VC + VS " /"VC"
Expansion ratio
Expansion ratio = "V4" /"V3 "
="V4" /"V3 " ="V1" /"V2 "
Heat transfer Q = m C dT
Heat supplied at 2 - 3 (Compression) process
QS = m CV (T3 - T2)
Heat rejection at 4 - 1 (Expansion) process
QR = m CV (T4 - T1)
