I loved to watch Otis Spanner play the piano at Peppers Lounge in Chicago years ago,.He played with Muddy Waters and James Cotton. He died at the age of 40, of cancer.

By far my favorite Blues Piano player. His album with Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac is raw with a perfect small town sound jam session feel. He is truely amazing from is playing to his voice. I wish I could have heard him play with Micheal Bloomfield, another Chicago Blues artitist. Its a dying art so thank goodness for you tube.

GhostGamingInc. Yeah, the Biggest Thing Since Colossus is so amazing, that's the one you mean, right? By the way, thank you, JIMBLUESROCK! "Blind Man" is really fine! Nothing here that isn't fine, but this one is beyond words.

GhostGamingInc. it's not a dying art,it just smells bad because of all the pretenders who claim to be playing "THE BLUES"

damm awesome album from blues great otis spann. one hell of a blues piano player. if it was not for the blues we would not have had rock and roll or heavy metal. so rock and metal owe a lot to the blues. black man created rock and roll remember that. this is just magic i love otis's voice too.

They should sculpt a likeness of Otis Spann on Mount Rushmore, along with Muddy, B.B., Professor Longhair, Miles, Coltrane, Wes, Aretha, Billie and so many others. Note: Cryin' Time doesn't represent Spann's best work.
