So I made a video of the elevators at the Atrium Hotel on Third which no longer has their original Otis series 1s from 1984 those got completely torn out no sign of the old one. Would’ve made a great before and after video if I got to it in time. Was kind of disappointed. I remembered that there was one left at the senior center I remembered it from 20 years ago when I sang Christmas carols for the elders in 2002, if you think of how the panel is slanted and the shape, it’s futuristic looking so that’s what draws me to it. So I came and filmed it. This one has a green digital indicator Newer series 1 vs the bulb indicators on older series 1s, green up/down arrow lanterns, otis 700 hz floor chime (which has obviously had the volume lowered), series 1 call buttons, and basic series 1 fixtures with the otis signature 1070 hz chirp (accurately) vs a 2000 hz microwave sounding chirp, mechanical nudge/fire service buzzer, cab size 72”/100”, 4500 lbs max, the building construction started in 1999 however the building didn’t open until 2002 the same year I first visited this place, they were brand new. These are no longer manufactured so I guess you could call them vintage, they are becoming more and more rare as they get modded or completely redone. As you can see this is a little slow and turbulent, sounds like a cable in the shaft is adjusting around 2 and a bit shakey at 3 not violently which is good and still very quiet, Enjoy!
