Ostriv Ep 10 | Reasoning Through Setting Taxes...and Chickens! | Ostriv Alpha 5.4 Gameplay

Ойындар

Hey Folks! Welcome to Ostriv!
Ostriv aims to raise the bar of city-building experience by adding a huge amount of possibilities and removing annoying limitations. It allows for truly organic town layouts without the grid and angle restrictions on a three-dimensional landscape. The goal is to make player's creations to become alive and believable communities where real-life problems would arise, thus making the late game a new challenge rather than a repetitive chore.

    I agree on hotkeys to cycle through your people would be good. I see at least on the houses there are arrows up by the building's name to cycle (am guessing through similar buildings) but I wonder if there are hotkeys to match those arrows. There should be a screen you can open to see all your houses and their status in a single list; that would probably be handy. Thanks for the video, Noble.

    Isn't that rule going to eliminate about 90% of what Steam has to offer? This game is EA, but also has 6 years of improvements under its belt. Imagine waiting that long to finally experience RimWorld, or Banished, all in EA for what felt like forever (and to be honest, I liked the earlier versions of RimWorld a lot better).

    You are going deeper and deeper into this game. Good job! You even dont have questions to answer for. Maybe some problem with warm clothing. Citizens buy it 10 items to increase thier quality by 1 like 4/5 into 5/5 per one person so your 100 items of warm clothing just for 2-3 dudes. And dont forget that local markets are kind of taxes for your citizens. Good luck and hope to see next episode soon ;)

    Are you having any issues with trying to move things from either the Trading Post or a Warehouse to say the Tannery, and it never moving...

  • @NobleRambler

    @NobleRambler

    6 ай бұрын

    Nope. Things that need to be moved by laborer have been slow simply because we don't have any extra laborers right now (so is understandable) and will be remedied as more houses build. Otherwise it is just a patience thing, recognizing that the game (all games) has an unseen queue running in the background working on a list of backed up jobs that they will get to in time. Or operator error (who for that building is set to haul and are they available - if not, why not, where are they, etc.?) If 'by cart' is the only one checked are the carts broken or busy...lots of possible reasons.

    OK. The first thing that comes to mind is a mistake I made playing a test game before the series: operator error. Have you placed values (numbers) into the warehouse list calling for those items? Set 0/0 to 0/2000 to call for 2000 of the item. Need to do that in the warehouse and granary. Hope that helps!

    Maybe you or another viewer can help me. I am getting lots of complaints about families being out of water even though I plopped down lots of wells. What am I doing wrong or is it just what the game does?

  • @NobleRambler

    @NobleRambler

    6 ай бұрын

    There will be a notice on a well that is too close to the river that the water down there is not fit for human consumption. Wells higher up are better quality. Beyond that, verify that the access path when placing the well was aimed out toward a path. Hope this helps.

    @@NobleRambler I notice the wells will run dry and will refill over time-so it seems like they are going to the well faster than it can revive. Makes sense, but multiple wells near each other should offset-I;m trying to see if turning off "use for production" will slow it down, and also experimenting with forbidding all use of the well until it fills up again-but it seems like micromanaging the issue

  • @NobleRambler

    @NobleRambler

    6 ай бұрын

    In real life, multiple wells too close to each other will deplete the local aquifer faster causing refill to slow way down. Wells spread out (like my map) have plenty of space between to not drain each other. Not sure if the game uses an unseen aquifer map layer to represent this, which would dictate the refill rates for different parts of the map as well as where bad water is. Try spreading them out and see if that helps.
