This guy’s a pro. He can make you buy every keyboard he reviews. It’s actually a brilliant concept. There’s nothing better than being able to transfer your emotions directly into a musical instrument. Thanks for this great video.

Oh don't you know he's the best keyboardist of all time according to a music magazine? He was the best graduate, and joined a band of best graduate musicians named Dream Theater. What makes him better than Chopin and Liszt is that he plays any desired genres easily from classical, rock (that brought him to fame), blues even to jazz.
Definitely the person I want to see demoing this technology.
What a keyboard and what a player !!! Amazing 😮
Kraft Music, my favorite and I'm looking in to the Osmose.
Jordan is such a genuine person... for a maestro!!! What a guy, player, musician, and what a instrument. Excellent share. Bravo!!!
Omg it’s the guy from dream theater. This dudes top shelf. I’m a guitarist that loves namm show videos. I’m just poking around. Lol
You’re at NAMM, and they couldn’t get you a mic stand? 😳
It's so great seeing the happy faces of the creators in the back knowing the amount of pleasure various people will have with it.
Jordan Rocked with the Continuum. This is no exception to the rule. He unlocked the secrets of such expressive synth.
Man, it was exciting to see Jordan’s name paired with Osmose. His playing definitely did not disappoint! Best demo yet. Amazing!
Damn, one of the most fit for the job of the presentation guys on the whole internet. I am kinnda sold.
Awesome sounds! Love your performance! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
I hear/see a lot of potential with this instrument. The expressivity is something I've been dreaming of my whole life, and now it's real. Now if only some great sound designers get their hands on it and make some serious sound banks that sound less cheesy, this could be totally killer. I look forward to giving it a shot, and hopefully the synth engine is up to the task.
Jorden is a genius, his playing is brilliant, every minute of listening is a real happiness.
I'll definitely be buying the 3rd version of this.

Jordan is beyond just playing the keys.
What a coup to have Jordan demo this wonderful keyboard. There are few musicians better suited to teach the advanced capabilities of such an instument.
I love the expressive capabilities of this keyboard. I would like to know more about it.
At minute 22, if you would not know about Jordan Rudess or the Osmose, one might think Isao Tomita had some hidden gem stashed away for a couple of years.
Damn. The tech here is just nuts. Jordan is a genius, thats already established. This thing though, damn it's impressive.

Just remember, he is a pianist FIRST, much of his playing technique is based on this. What always bugs me is his orchestral demos in the past. The use of a sustain pedal is NOT applicable, especially with instruments of the string family. He makes them sound like he is sitting at a piano LOL.

Thank you for your comment. I find it facinating when people are emotionally shaken up by insignificant issues... like a beard. I wonder what the opposite of stoic is.
The gormless gum chewing convention 😂
Machanically makes you have to relearn keyboard playing touch. 4d expressive. However the sounds concern me, with so little sound patches supporting 360 xyz 4d vectoring after touch in the traditional synth plugin world, poly after touch etc, Unless the sounds are cutting edge /amazing bundled with this. The use of it in modern music is in question. Just synth brass and cheesy brass/ cello patches is a bit naff. Really they should team up with spitfire audio or something to make expressive e enabled orchestral libraries.

That has always been my same concern. The hardware is capable, but there doesn't seem to be a bunch of talented sound designers exploiting it. Feels like unsupported hardware that had potential but not people behind it to make use of it.
@drsamurai009
Жыл бұрын
I would agree that individual pitch bending (wiggle) can get overused. My interest is more the strum, shake and pressure glide functionality. Expressive E makes several hardware templates for the touché, and I'm hoping they'll do the same for this instrument. I've seen it used with UVI and my fingers are crossed they'll make a SWAM template as well.

to be fair, I think the cheesy brass/synth brass is performer's style and preference, not representative of the only (or even main) sounds of the Osmose. Demos from artists like Cuckoo highlight amazing flute/pipe patches, plucked string, belltones, and other artists highlight presets that are much more modern synth based. Honestly, the presets this artist showcased are not the most exciting compared to others I have heard - I was floored by some of the sounds of other demonstrators. But I also don't really resonate with this musician's style. I believe this instrument comes with a lot of presets, and it has access to the Eagenmatrix, so you can create your own patches.

I think the difficulty with that would be finding a synth that takes advantage of all its expressive capabilities. Plenty have aftertouch and MPE note bend but I can't think of any that would do anything with the first touch and release velocity also.

Greatest synth player ever and there really isn't a close second at this point. When you think of guys like Stevie Wonder, Keith Emerson etc... that's really a remarkable thing to be able to say. Osmose has raised the bar drastically.
Do they make an 88 key version?
en el mundo de los ciegos, el tuerto es rey......... el hombre es capo
Great demo; great that it also has internal sounds designed to use the expressive engine and control features of the keyboard. Gonna need to read the manual to see what it takes to use the expressiveness on external synths and software instruments. I'm sure it works fine, but could be tedious to configure? The expressiveness, as Jordan stated and demonstrated, goes far beyond mod wheels, aftertouch and velocity.
Have it in stock, please.

Just bought one, no waiting. It is pretty good sounding, and not like any other keyboard I have. Definitely keeping this one, but there are a few things missing for me... 1) the ability to transpose in half tone steps. 2) the ability to power up with the last used patch. 3) the ability to run for more than a few hours, without crashing/restarting.
10:45 its sound like a inline 4 engine in idle 😂
Great controller. It must take some time before musicians will start using it. Not overusing.

Yes, there will be a period of every note being bent in every direction until we're all thoroughly sick of it. After that it will find its useful place.
They need to put a range limiter for the pitch vibrato and also a speed limiter as well. It’s just too much and players can’t seem to control themselves showing off the feature.

Both are controllable.
I love the aftertouch capabilities of this keyboard. However, I would still expect an instrument like this to come with two modulation wheels. Or the ability to bend notes with a foot pede, or and simulate a Leslie cabinet with a wheel. It doesn't make sense to me for a company to release new technology and capabilities without including the old standard tools that I expect to come with every keyboard that I have bought since the 1980s.
