Nosebush nah, that comb isn't for your hair. It is really a "backup signaling device," for in case that "silent dog whistle" didn't alert the hounds helping search for you. Just get a leaf and blow on it, and I'm sure any searchers looking for you within twenty to thirty feet will wonder what in goodness is that noise. If the wind isn't being too loud, that is.

+Life in Farmland Have you ever heard of a Swedish compass? It's a snuff box with a mirror in it. It doesn't show you where you are or where to go. It just shows you who's lost! This kinda reminded me of that except you could at least use the mirror to signal for help.

Come on Wranglerstar, you're way too harsh. I used one on these kits and got rescued really quickly. I used my US made Zipo and set fire to the plastic case and contents. That stuff really burns and the black smoke can be seen for miles. You go China!

Hilarious ! I am glad you got it free for evaluation and for laughs. I have not seen(and certainly not purchased) a tiny survival kit. My own GHBag weighs in at 12 lbs and fits in a canvas fishing creel type bag. In addition, to my CCW, canteen, and proper clothing and footware and a walking stick or cane. +SixToMidnight My experience has been that even the high end outdoors company's survival kits have been kind of crap. I don't know if it's an issue in order to keep costs down, or if it's just systemic misunderstanding of what actually needs to be in the kit, and of what quality, but I've bought half a dozen over the years from REI, Gander Mountain, and Scheels, and they are either missing important items, or the items supplied are junk. I've had much better luck piecing a kit together on my own for marginally more than the pre-made kits sell for, and they are far superior.

+SammyNineFingers Yeah, I looked into the pre-assembled survival kits a bit ago (mainly because they normally manage to get them a bit smaller for packing that I could get my own custom kit, because they can design packaging around their specific kit). They always lack some items I need, contain some items I don't need and contain at least some poor quality items. I reached the conclusion that survival items are area, purpose and season specific, and thus it's much better to make up your own. Making your own also means that you will also be familiar with each and every item in there (and will have hopefully practised with it - if the first time you, say, light a fire with your emergency fire kit is when there's an actual emergency, things are probably going to end badly).

Learn to rely on yourself and you won't need a kit that only makes u feel good. Learn what bugs to eat, plants, how to make water safe to drink.

You're using it wrong. The comb was for grooming the wolves as they chew on your legs. Those Chinese are so clever. Their plan is to take us out one at a time with these "survival kits". lol

cup.char cloth maker. filter (fill with sand ash moss). bend it apart for sharp knife like tool. yep i agree there

At least when you get rescued, you will have nice groomed hair

+mrRobbins999 Good point, when Search and Rescue has to prioritize excellent grooming of victim could easily carry the day. Do you want to be flying out on a SA366 G1 Dauphin with a styled look or hypothermic and freezing on the barren tundra with an uncombed mop of hair?

What makes it even more funny is that in Swedish "osis" is an interjection meaning "hard luck". :-)
