OSI Model: A Practical Perspective - Part 2 - Networking Fundamentals - Lesson 2
Ғылым және технология
Module 1 of the Networking Fundamentals course will illustrate the core of networking: How data moves through the Internet. The foundation of that is understanding the OSI model.
But this isn't about mere memorization, instead we are going to look at the underlying goals of each layer of the OSI model, and how it contributes to the over all goal of networking: Moving data between hosts.
This lesson is a free lesson from my new course on Networking Fundamentals. The first module of this course is meant to teach you everything you need to know to understand how packets move through a network. All the lessons for the first module will be released for free here on KZread:

I have to thank you for these videos. Until recently, I was somewhat frustrated because I couldn't quite understand what my teachers were trying to explain, but now I see everything so clearly
Pure Gold Content. Wish we had Video 30+ years back... While doing Polytechnic (3rd year in 1989) in India, I have read Computer Networks written by Author Tanenbaum. I think it was pre-www. I spent many many hours and tried hard to picturize OSI model in mind and understand. Later while doing my Engineering (after 3 years) I had same Network subject with more chapters (around 1993) and still could not visualize how the OSI layer works.. Same story while doing executive course. I have to go thru same subject again. Wish this video was then during my college days... I am not network engineer but I was always curious How really this works.. And this video is blessing to me, as it solidified my networking visualization. Million thanks.

I'm so grateful to you. Your lessons are very easy to understand due to the way you present and explain them. I am currently taking a course on Computer Networks at the university and I understood practically nothing and did not see the connection between the topics, since they load you with a huge flow of information and everything is written in a complex way and it isn't shown how these topics are related to each other. It's like they're giving you puzzle pieces without telling you what picture you're supposed to complete at the end. And you don’t understand what to do with this mountain of puzzle pieces. Thanks to your videos, all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
Simply amazing . I surely can say that you are one of the best instructors for the networking topics. I have watched many of your videos and your explanation is brilliant . Thanks a lot .

wow thank you for presenting this in a way that makes it so understandable. Incredible. I've been in mostly software and always was intimidated by networking fundamentals. I get it now. Thank you!!!
the best networking playlist out there.
In the early 70-thies I tested the prototypes of Philips main frame data communication equipment and I talked a lot to our representative in the OSI model development. So I started to use the model in my test reports. In the late 70-thies we developed a special purpose OS, that supported local static networks of 16-bits mini computers used in e.g ATC systems. We used a 2-byte network address CPU-id and Process-id. We could send a message from any process in the network to all others even over computer boundaries. We used the messaging also to communicated between processes running in different 64K address spaces. Processes that needed frequent cooperation could share pages and control concurrent access to that data through semaphores.
Excellent video, I finally understood encapsulation and de-encapsulation, thank you for this content.
I know it has been 2 years but you are an amazing teacher. 10/10.
Very nice explanation! Absolutely anyone on the internet who are currently learning networking will love this!
