OSHO: Why Buddha Chose the Word Nirvana

"I can see why the word nirvana thrills you into ecstasies. It is certainly one of the words which is unpolluted. There is a reason why it remained unpolluted" Osho

    Much of our history is distorted, burnt or edited but we can still feel the truth. Just wanted to add on, why ego is it a crime to add on? Osho would 've been fine with it - Nirvana in ancient Tamil means to go naked, become naked ..wear or think nothing.. even thinking is a mental costume we wear .and talking is a verbal costume we wear..so ancient Siddhas or Thirthankaras went naked, even today you will find naked monks in some places. We are all polluted because we are very very selectively naked. Now that's where the sensuality problem arises. Adam and Eve fell from Nirvana because the mind got polluted thanks to our friend. But Buddhas Nirvana there is no fall, no point of return. If need to return the whole must return, the whole cannot return it can only turn. So even drop all language, names or numbers even drop the word Nirvana and realize the ultimate truth of Wholeness moving within itself - the Universe as it is . ..

    It cannot be polluted because Nibbana is unconditioned..it is Santi Sukha. Buddha's teaching is very profound and sublime. To experience Nibbana you need to practise satipatthana vipassana, not through listening or reading when the world now is full of greed, hatred n ignorance or delusion..

  • @WeAreAllOneNature

    @WeAreAllOneNature

    When he said you have to ''earn'' or ''deserve'' it, I think he means you have to achieve something before you can enter that state of nirvana. You have to dissolve (lose) your identity (ego). 'Nirvana' means 'extinguish'. According to Buddhism, if a person does not blow out the candle flame of their their personality in this lifetime, then they will reincarnate again until they do. At 13:38 he says ''Nirvana is going to dissolve you.'' But it is not a birthright (inevitable) for this lifetime.

    Because they have attained the truth. And once your eyes are open, there's no going back. Nirvana is like desiring to end all of your desires. Most of us are still held down by our desires and ego so achieving nirvana for people who are clinging to life is impossible. Our minds will always find ways to prolong our desires. It can't conceive Nirvana for now.
