Tbh akane is an example of just because you see her failing miserably on one aspect, it doesnt mean she has no talent overall. She might not be good at reality tv, but She is amazing on acting and imitating a character as if she pulled their soul out from the shadow realm

I feel like this episode also showed us how twisted Aqua’s view of Ai is, seeing her only as this mysterious force to be reckoned with, one with absolutely no flaws, like a god or something. Akane however analyzes her in a human lens, showing us her flaws and how human she really was. Talking about how she walks in long strides, holds her chopsticks somewhat irregularly, and her limited education. Using the knowledge she learned about Ai, Akane was also able to infer things about her that weren’t directly stated, like Ai’s promiscuous relationship with men at an early age. This I believe shows that Ai’s behavior is predictable using psychological clues based on her other decisions and behaviors because all she really was, was a troubled kid who was never given the love she deserved. Unlike Aqua’s obsessive idea that she was this puzzle unable to be cracked by anyone.

Hmmm. But they were some parts in some earlier eps acqua talks about some of her behaviors. I remember when he was trying to crack the code of the phone and he said "ai wasn't perfect but she took good care to protect the family secret"

I agree, Akane threw Aqua for quite the loop. Aqua was so utterly convinced that Ai couldn't be replicated through imitation that he was blindsided by Akane's performance.

Bit of a Spoiler But if you like Akane right now you’ll surely like her way more as the story progresses, not only is she growing as a character but she also shows great deduction skills and she seems to be really keen on saving Aqua, so far she’s my favourite character

It's not just Akane's imitation of Ai is impressive, but Manaka's voice acting was superb i had to stop the video just check whatever both Akane and Ai had the same voice actor or not.

Plus she disclose the information on Aqua dad only made Aqua mental state more worse than before considering he doesn't hesitate to use her mother secret as pretext to save Kana while his true intentions is to make the public aware that his real father still alive.

Yep. I can sense the danger there too. Aqua opened his heart too much, and Akane is in a perfect position to get way too deep. His heart isn’t strong enough to resist the deception in the first place, because it’s not Ai herself that he is attracted to, but her persona. The eyes, the confidence, the carefree attitude, her deception. Which is exactly what Akane is suited to embody in the first place. Even down to the deceptive nature. The worst part is that Ai’s persona was invented so that for her, her lies might eventually become true. Akane is doing the opposite by accident, her genuine nature is strong, gentle, and honest. This is only an act for her, a job, she has a life outside of the role and a completely different set of motives from the original. On the point of figuring out Aqua’s true identity. It remains to be seen if Ai was good enough to bury her kids in obscurity deep enough that Akane can’t find out, but I don’t have much hope for that.

I love Akane SO MUCH! Ive awaited this moment since the anime begun!

No wonder Rie takahashi said she wanted to voice akane instead of Ai.

@@RenderingUser She mention in the interview she originally wanted Akane's role but didn't get it so she got the second role she interviewed for. Apparently Rio also mentioned she was a fan of the manga before the announcement of the anime was made. Akane actually plays a huge role later on. =)

That wouldn't be bad at all, but I also don't want her to be obsessed with saving him to the point of ruining her own life, ya know? That's why (spoilers) Aqua breaks up with her once she tries to save him by doing the dirty work herself. He knew he was going down a dark path and didn't want to drag her down with him, while she wanted to prevent him from needing to go there. Their relationship is pretty tragic

Having read the manga, Akane is an incredible character, though knowing what her goal is currently in the series i'm VERY concerned for her.

Akane did quite the gutsy move since she's unknowingly imitating his mom and that can get out of hand becoming really offensive to Aqua so easily. Japanese idol fans can get really pissed and out of control over the simplest offense be it real or imagined; Ai herself got murdered by such a deranged fan.

The most insane thing are her God-like reasoning skills. She is by far the most intelligent and talented character in the anime so far, she is on an entire universe of her own.

She is probably the smartest character maybe besides range father in the series (aqua is 3 and ruby is the number that would scare Mista)

The thing I love about this scene is Akane is now the person that knows Ai the best. Everyone was charmed by all the good Ai represents. Everyone, even her kids, jist see the idol and sings her praises, Aqua even saying who she was is unobtainable. When Akane researches Ai most of her comments are largly negative, and extremely personal. To immitate the best liar she identified what she was lying about and how.

The moment the outro starts is just amazingly done

Akane is a super talented actor and it thew EVERYONE for a loop As you said, Aqua's face was just 🤌

I stan Akane.

I avoided this one at first, but after all the talk about it, gave it a watch and was blown away. That ending was sooo amazing!

My jaw hit the floor with the animation of this scene. especially with how the little movement of the mouth with the hair ties so with a shot of Ai from the OP. Nice little detail

Man ending was perfectly synch with Mephisto. Akane's act on surprising poor Aqua with an impersonation of his mom is INCREDIBLE. This show is a rollercoaster every episode. If you wanted to see AI again, she is back.

i started reading manga after episode 1 and damn.....THE STORY IS WILD

If you think is big then your going to love how crazy more insane as you follow through I’m loving how adaptation of Akane crazy scary ability. It crazy I definitely still love anime and Akane is so useful but you can’t forget Aqua has good eye out for things. Aqua only like ai still her immediate of her would nerve wrecking to not hold back any emotion of her actions.

Feels nice ever since ep1 movie length was out it’s still legit cuz it darn showed how Aka Akasaka sensei do so great with different tones…plus as a manga reader ever since first episode drag me there..I love how they handle the love triangle dynamic of Aqua..Akane and Kana..their chemistry of these three is amazing..as a Multishipper I just want all this characters to get a better outcome of their finale arcs of this series soon (and no ship wars pls) this video made my day

Id just read the manga if you're split on it. It's too good not to at this point. I was so enthralled and wanted to know more I spent the whole day yesterday reading it just so I would be in the loop and answer many many questions I had. While raising all that many more. I personally think its worth the read if you decide to, or if you're that split atleast read it after the season ends. Me though, I read it after she revealed her new personality(Ep7). Was a good stopping point IMHO. This was around chapter 20 in the manga I think. The latest chapter is 119 that came out yesterday too oddly as I was reading through all 99 of them. You won't be disappointed if you do though, tell you that.

God this hurts so much..

being anime only, this has been a fantastic series. sort of waiting on Aqua to slip up now and say "mom" and akane picking up on that.

The before and after you can also see than akane's eyes were of a night sky with barely any stars but after the Ai Portrayal her eyes were a night sky filled with stars

So for now I’d speculate that as Akane portrays Ai will lead Aqua to realize that Ai wasn’t perfect and he set unrealistic expectations because of it leading to some kind of character development. Idk I can’t wait to read up on this story

I am worried about what this will do to Akane and Aqua mental health after all the real Ai wasn't really happy until her twins but that was short lived for her....and Akane after having a mental breakdown is now going down a bumpy road again since she is becoming Ai-can 0.2 but might be worse for her especially if she falls for Aqua and her getting to carry away with her new character at like how some real actors got carried away when the played the Joker.

God, I love her as a character, I hope she ends up with Aqua but we all know that won't happen because I have a feeling she might die at the end of the story.

It's pretty much about when Akane pulls together that Aqua is Ai's son. Pretty sure she did pull that around chapter 50 in the manga, not right in the reality show. She also pretty much figured out Aqua's reason for being an actor before actually asking him (yes she definitely did ask) You can feel free to imagine how she reacts after Aqua answers the question.
