Oscilloscope mushrooms on the Rigol DS1054Z
Ғылым және технология
As a quick test of my DS1054Z I thought I'd try to display some audio artwork by Jerobeam Fenderson in XY mode. If you want to get hold of some of Jerobeam's amazing work, check it out here: oscilloscopemusic.com/
The scope struggles a bit, and we have to compromise between the frame rate and the number of samples but it's possible to make out the shapes and animations.
This would work much better on an analog scope!

Lissajous, PAH ! Fascinating, thank you for sharing this. Off to the website...
Credit to Jerobeam!
Wow this is madness
Sweet. I love this stuff. My horrible hantek won't do anything interesting including clean waveforms haha cool video
How does this work.Could I play my modular synth and get shapes like this on the oscilloscope or is it being drawn on with the oscilloscope.Sorry I'm a bit clueless with this sort of gear 😅

It's... complicated! Basically you have two input signals (could be l and r from the synth) and the oscilloscope is drawing an xy plot, with the left signal on x and the right signal on y. The sound files I'm using here have been specially created to draw patterns without sounding too awful, but you would get random looking patterns if you just connected the land r channels from any musical gear (providing the signals on l and r are different enough).
what kind of magic is this? I'll be praying (just joking) thank you
its real?

Yes, you can download the files and play with them yourself!
Amazing. Now run doom on it.
