That man said putting someone on and giving them an opportunity to make the best of it is the same as giving someone a place to stay but beat them up every night. He sounds like someone who has entitlement issues and wants to be spoon fed everything. Said Jay never helped nobody from Philly but Jay/Roc-a-fella gave state property they own label, clothing line, and they had a movie and still couldn’t make the best of it. Seem like Jay Z wanted to only take what he liked from State Property to elevate himself musically, he wanted to keep them under him for his own benefit. Kinda how the government treat service men, promise them all these benefits and make them feel like they are important and apart of something but after they put they lives on the line to protect and honor this country they’re just disposed back to society with no kinda security parachute if they fall off in society.

Even a full proof plan might get disrupted if you come back mentally unstable or with some type of condition or diagnoses. So stop tryna shit on people when I highly doubt you or me know what it’s like to be expected to carry on a “plan” with some of those types of weights on your shoulders. Naw... you got it wrong. State property had the chance to elevate themselves. Jay-Z had to make a choice as a man because he was quickly outgrowing everyone around him. I have been in the same situation. No matter what Jay does, someone is going to be upset he decided to start moving to the beat of his own drum. It doesn't matter how loyal you are to some ppl, they will be bitter when you decide to make a move on your own. It's part of life. I don't think it's Jay-Z's responsibility to carry everyone to the promise land. He is a business man at the end of the day. The ppl that were around him were not in the same mind frame as him so it was time to cut ties.

Its not a street mentality, its an honorable mentality! That is how you supposed to move from gutter to the burbs but it doesn't work like that clearly. Im sick of people thinking because they gave you a look or an assist to be in a position to create your own opportunity, that means they can now become cut throat or shady. People always overlook that ish. You can't become a person with no morals just because at one point in time you did something that assisted me. Now its like you feel you have a right to be a complete asshat when it comes to what I have going on. You sign me to your label and have us do songs on your album but won't get on ours or clear a sample. That's not a handout, its good business both ways becuase Jay z needed those philly dudes. Don't get it effed up. He absolutely took from Schi, O and sparks.... you can tell! That whole philly camp brought him up in a way he wouldn't have been without them at that time. I'm not saying they made him or he wouldn't be relevant, his path and outcome was what it was. However, you can't ignore the impact State Prop had on Rockafella and Jay Z specifically. Amazing his entire crew was not spitters from NY, he had to go to a whole other state and get philly cats to be his crew....that speaks volumes!

This is 2005 or earlier that he's referring to. That was the price because the process was longer and everything is inflated when a record company is charging you for a service. That's a third party negotiation that gets written off for the owner of the studio and the recording company for booking it. And if you are both the recording company and the owner of the studio it's a win/win. But most importantly that's how all labels operated then.

I honestly feel like he didn’t really like them as far as rappers. The only ones he liked was Beans, Freeway, and Young Chris. Those was the only ones that stood out. Plus Jay cleared them other songs cause he knew those were gonna be commercial hits. I’m sure the song he wanted him on was some street shit

They were artists on rocafella, that benefited Jay and state property, we not gonna act like that was a one sided thing...they didn't capitalize off it..what songs he took?? Honestly?? Give it to me was sparks song but it would be nothing without Jay verses...you said Jay took Chris flow and cadence right, but for how long?? That wasn't the style that catapulted Jay career, please he toyed with it for a lil bit then switched the style up again so that ain't shit...like the top comment said it was business never personal...

Look at Jim Jones (the most disrespectful towards Nas). These boys were just nothing without Hov. And if you talking street code, my young boys aren’t going to try and tarnish my name, reputation, and destroy everything I built after I put them on. Jayz did take his style from Philly cats. Reasonable doubt was just Jayz being himself with his own style and soon after he hooked up with state property he started animating some of his bars like young Chris, beanie Sigel and some of the others.

Yeah this not the first time a person speak on how jay did them in business. charge them 300 dollars a hour to use the studio, He keeps most of the royalties off they state property songs/ albums. He would not get on songs with them or clear songs for them Take songs from them and put his album out when they put one out, yeah he shady business but its not surprising he in the Billionare boys club and they do bogus business to get money & keep it.
