This is 2005 or earlier that he's referring to. That was the price because the process was longer and everything is inflated when a record company is charging you for a service. That's a third party negotiation that gets written off for the owner of the studio and the recording company for booking it. And if you are both the recording company and the owner of the studio it's a win/win. But most importantly that's how all labels operated then.
